I recall it being the moment I first began to grasp the concept of death and, more specifically, that when someone dies it means you never see them again. Before I'd seen this film, the only times I'd ever heard of dying was in computer games when the protagonist loses all their lives and you have to start over. Bambi was a little more dramatic than that! It was his father's line "your mother cannot be with you any more" that really hit me hard.

It was sad though :(

The death of Bambi's mother has no effect on mace as I find Bambi to be such an ineffectual, passive character that I cannot stir any emotion for his situation. That scene just doesn't work for me.
