-She likes Arthur and notices that Merlin isn't too fond of her. She asks Merlin for a chance. She knows that Arthur values Merlin's opinion above all others even if he wouldn't admit it.
-Arthur offers her the lands of Gedref upon which he has ancient claims on.
-Arthur tells her that he loves Gwen.
So what do you think guys??
UPDATED September 6, 2011 10:30EST-I was not able to get through to watch the video as it now says it's private. It was fine before so don't know what happened. Above is the essence of the audition. Sorry about that-Nanna

AH WHAT ARE UR THOUGHTS GIRLS ON THAT ?
1) i find her very lovely and i already like her !
2) i dont like having a new princess for arthur , its getting old but if gwen is jealous then it would be funny to watch , BUT OMG DONT THEY DARE GIVE TO ARTHUR/PRINCESS A DANCE SCENE OR ILL KILL THEM ALL , the dance is for arwen ONLY
3) seriously HQ , u're such a spy XD
The more I think about it, I do hope Merlin's reason for not being fond of her will give us some kind of battle and some real magic.
Maybe Merlin doesn't like her because he thinks that she's a threat to Arwen. And since he's the founding father of the A/G ship club he doesn't want her to come between Arthur and Gwen.
For me also, the "triangle" just needs to be done with. While it would no doubt bring alot of angst...all I could remember is feeling sad for Gwen when Arthur was enchanted w/Vivan.
1.She does give off a bit of a shady vibe but without much context it is difficult to tell. I hope she isn't evil. Tired of all the diabolical female characters on this show.
2. I like that someone likes Arthur. Besides Gwen, all he's gotten was that crush Morgana had on him briefly. Other than that there was that S1 girl who wanted to kill him, Vivian who was enchanted & Elena who was so not into him. Glad he is getting crushed on for a change. Sounds like he is not entertaining it at all, but still, it must be a nice ego boost.
3. Sounds like Arthur/Gwen is not common knowledge yet. Hmmm... They should be shooting episodes 10 & 11. Right? But we had all that public stuff for the earlier episodes. So I'm confused again. I suppose it could just be the isolated story-telling that Merlin is famous for.
4. Azwarrior, I hated seeing her like that. If they are going to go the jealous!Gwen route I hope it's not all depressing like that. I want it to be more light-hearted.
5. "Without her they are worth nothing to me" *swoon*
6. Bradley "Camelot-is-the-love-of-Arthur's- life " James will be delivering that line soon. Tee hee.
7. Arthur offers her some of his lands to prevent a war... Was she really going to start a war with Camelot because Arthur rejected her advances? That's what is sounds like from their conversation. I hope there is something more substantial going on.
This looks like it will be a good episode. Looking forward to it.
i think elena really liked him.
3 )i was also wondering about the whole "public affair" too , im really shocked that towards episode 10 ( 6 EPISODES AFTER UTHER DIED ) people still dont know about arthur/gwen , there is some shit going on there and im really confused
4) yes i dislike seeing gwen all angsty , ive always prefered heartbroken/ angsty Arthur and happy/funny gwen
5) OH GOSH IM DYING THIS QUOTE OMG
6) YOU TROLL ! hahah sriously this is crazy , bradley break a lost or something , this is too weird
7) LOL i think the writors are capable of doing a crappy scenario like that
my thoughts : id like to see gwen jealous over arthur/princess , in a funny way
Now there is speculation that they break-up prior to this episode. Great! Is that really necessary? Weren't they kept apart for long enough? Don't even want to ponder the reason(s) why.
P.s. For all of us outside the UK does anyone know if we'll be able to stream the show live or will we have to wait a day or two?
1. Arthur and Gwen have already had that public courtyard walk where the extras were told to smile because their king had chosen his queen, the banquet, rings, etc. So why would this princess act as if she had no idea he had someone? Even if there had been a breakup, it would be public knowledge. Stacey had told me before that sometimes things are filmed out of sequence. Perhaps this episode was filmed out of sequence because of actress availability or something. Maybe some of it has been already filmed in
Cardiff and she's just doing outside scenes now. In other words, maybe it's an earlier episode.
2. @Zoe: your#2. Right on again, girl! I just said that last night to Stacey that I'm glad Bradley will finally have for Arthur a girl who really likes him, without an enchantment or wanting his mortal soul or the like. Elena was as happy as he was to get out of the marriage so even though she would have made a viable wife, still it's not the same. And this girl is really pretty also. So hope this makes Bradley happy. your #6. LOL!
3. @Naima. Maybe Gwen will get jealous, and I read elsewhere that this episode might come shortly or right after the episode where Arthur breaks into the room with the Gwen and Lancelot hug or whatever it was. Maybe it won't have been resolved yet and Arthur doesn't know the whole story, etc. and we'd have both Arthur and Gwen all angsty and upset and everything would be topsy turvy. That would also explain why Merlin would be not to keen on another aspect to the situation coming coming in to upset the apple cart even further.
3. If morgana is involved in any way I too would hate a body swap type thing, but they may try using the tried and true enchantment method of involving her, though that has certainly gotten old. I don't think this princess is a baddie. I think she's thrown in to complicate the Arwen situation.
4. @Bonne-Bell. I so agree. We Arwen lovers are really going to be put through it this year. But as I said on another thread, we BETTER come out on top when all said and done. I keep thinking about the series theme of darkest before the dawn, and I'm trusting the dawn will emerge at the end of the season with A/G on top.
5. I read that Bradley and Janet Montgomery worked together on DISconnected and have been friends since. So they know each other well which should make it fun for them and add to the performances. We have a lot of good stuff which should benefit our viewing pleasure this year. Even the hard things will be all the more impacting.
@Zoe, I'm now laughing about Bradley having to deliver those lines and having Arthur reject yet another princess when Gwen is supposedly the only woman in Camelot. Oh the irony.
Janet does seem lovely though and I'm sure that Bradley and the rest of the cast will enjoy working with her.
Does anyone know what Janet's character's name will be?
I'm looking forward that dawn, hoping Art & Gwennie get there with morals unscathed.
"having Arthur reject yet another princess when Gwen is supposedly the only woman in Camelot."
Lol, I had forgotten about this one. So much for that theory Bradders. Haha.
Janet was in Disconnnected? Remind me please.
Anyway, I've been thinking (I know, dangerous) about some things. I've been rewatching 3x13 and looking at a bunch of things over and over. A bit ago something hit me about the round table scene when Lancelot stood up to say his little bit. You probably remember that when he said "all that's good" he looked at Gwen. I liked her response, but what made me start thinking was the fact that he did this right in front of Arthur's face.
So I'm thinking about this "struggle" thing that Gwen has with Lancelot, whatever the situation. We also know she'll be crying at the pyre in S4 episode two and she's crying quite a bit even when she's standing there holding hands with Arthur. Most folks think it's Lance's funeral when he's supposed to be dead. All this says to me that probably Arthur is fully aware that what started in 2x04 hasn't been resolved yet. But all indications are that he's sticking with Gwen and even when somebody else comes along for him, it doesn't shake him.
For some reeason I feel better after thinking about this, because unlike some versions of the legend where Arthur hasn't a clue what's going on behind his back, with our couple HE KNOWS ALL ABOUT IT BEFORE HE GETS BETROTHED TO HER. I like that. When he burst into that room, which we'll find out what the hitch is, but at least he already was aware of it. As much as I hate the triangle, this helps me in some weird way.
I don't know why I feel better after working through all this in my mind. Does it for any others of you?
I agree. Back in season 1 when Merlin was always complaining that Arthur got all the girls, I often wondered why we never actually saw those girls running after him. Also why don't the women in Camelot ever hang around the field where the knights train? If the crown prince and other hot men were training with each other in a field in real life, you bet there would be hordes of women hanging around there drooling over them.
One thing that has always bothered me about the show is that they tend to rely too much on telling viewers what is rather than showing them. Sometimes it's better to show than to tell, it creates more of an impact that way.
is the contrary of what actually happens on the show
what about gwen making a pact with morgana after what happened with arthur/lancelot ( enchantment ) ? like she leaves Arthur and Camelot and in exchange Morgana wont kill Arthur ? that could be a good break up , and even if arthur and gwen were public , it doesnt mean that the world know thats , so the princess , seeing Arthur alone in the castle wont think that he was with gwen before
( i think it would be too much to have an another elena episode )

@ HQ actually it does. Unlike most of you my favorite ship is the friendship between Arthur and Merlin I think it's partly because I really don't want to deal with the whole triangle thing.
But after reading what you wrote and thinking back at 3x10, I think the difference in the way he greeted Gwen when she showed up with Leon and his very public embrace of her in front of Lance and later in front of all of Camelot was maybe influenced by Lance's presence...you know kinda Arthur's way of letting Lance know that Gwen is his.
I'm hoping with Arthur being aware and likely catching them in an embrace that at some point he actually confronts Gwen about her feelings for Lance...hopefully this paves the way for the no adultery route. It's kinda why I'm also hoping for an end of series wedding.
Like I said, I'm glad Arthur knows about it already. Soooo, we shall see.
Now the words he stated to Gwen that he would give up the kingdom for her is visually played out.
I bet Gwen is somewhere wiping drool off of crazy Uther's chin and spooning hism soup. How angsty would that be? Dang, where's Lancelot when you need him. Just kidding. :)
