Chapter fifteen: A long journey to Counquan

Skye rose at sunrise, yawned deeply and looked up at the reddened clouds; the sun shone through these clouds creating a red tinted light, which was shining upon Skye and the rest of his men. Gunnar arose soon after. “Good morning, Ser, beautiful sunrise isn't it?” the Commander-Captain đã bình luận blandly, evidently still annoyed bởi the lumber-men of Erylyn. “Yes, it sure is. Good sleep Gunnar?” Skye wondered curiously. “Hmmm, I suppose so. It's a wonder that those men of Neryl's didn't come back and try and create trouble, hoặc maybe they just noticed how many men we have.” Skye rolled his eyes. “No backbone, that's the trouble with these so-called loyal soldiers. Fools like Neryl inflict fear into these men and it makes them cowardly.”
Gunnar snorted. “Maybe bạn have a point; I don't ever feel afraid of his Leniency and I'd never back down from a fight, but bạn know that otherwise I wouldn't be here right now.” Skye nodded in agreement. “Every man who has joined to help us is no coward, for we may go to our deaths. Who knows how many men Altran has, it could be twenty thousand and we have four thousand Mage-Lancers, and a regiment of Lancer Elites, numbering one and a half thousand. Oh and Mage-Lancer High Command, Low Command and me.” The other shook his head. “We must all be crazy, hoặc just plain stupid to go into battle against those odds, yet with bạn here I don't feel so crazy.”
Skye laughed; “that may be true, however I am but one Mage and I sure feel crazy to even think about winning a battle like such.” They were abruptly interrupted bởi Mage-Commander Hylyr, who wore a look of determination on his face. “Ser, we must leave as soon as possible. We need to get to Counquan and start preparing.” Skye exchanged looks with Gunnar. “Gunnar, can bạn wake all the men up? We need to eat and then make haste at once” Skye asked nonchalantly. “Yes, Ser.” Gunnar then walked through the trees and disappeared into the clearing, where the men were camped. Hylyr grinned and opened his carry-pack, withdrawing some of the Kelodian dried trái cây and some of the dried meat. Skye did the same and they both enjoyed a not-very hearty breakfast with Gerdamh and Gunnar, who had returned while the men were also eating their rations.

“You’re insane.”

“Because we all haven’t heard that one before. Yes, we’re insane. But so is the enemy that could damn well take over the world. If we want to take them down, we need to resort to extreme measures. Illegal measures. We don’t care if it’s risky. That just means, best case scenario, it works.”

“And worst case scenario, everything goes wrong. People die. Society collapses. Those of us who survive the fallout lose our jobs and become pariahs, hated bởi the entire world. Who’s going to do the job when none of us can?”

“That’s exactly it. These people are going...

[Clash! Enforcing The Law Vs. Protecting Organisms]

The Nature Mage was not known as a human being, nor was he known as anything else other than a human being; to be thêm precise, nobody, that had ever met him, was sure what he was. He was an enigma; a being that was neither here, nor there. He simply existed, without anybody knowing truly where, hoặc what, he came from. There was a rumour that he was born of Mother Earth Herself... That he was some kind of fallen disciple... Of course, these observations had been made centuries ago. Now, the people of planet Earth were ignorant and cared little...

[Arrival of the Cataclysm! Mankind Meets The Enforcer?!]

-January 2051, Christchurch, New Zealand-

It is a bitterly cold day; the wind is almost gale-force and hail has been coming for almost an hour. Buildings are rubble on most occasions, their foundations and structure completely ruined, just a picture of destruction and chaos; earthquakes are rampant in Christchurch and around the region of the Alpine Fault, where two major fault-lines converge – the Indo-Australian Fault and the Pacific Fault. The whole area is hit bởi minor earthquakes every ngày and, on fair occasion, even major ones hit,...

It didn’t take long for Sebastian and Ophelia to reach Ukraine. Despite being involved with the world of magic and gods, it was no difficult task to head to the nearest big city and buy plane tickets to Ukraine’s capital; Kiev.

The Knight

“I know that look. I’ve seen it on the faces of those who came before you, slinging weapons and hurling self-righteous insults, just like you. It’s a pretty selfish look, if bạn ask me. bạn came here looking for prestige and respect, but all you’ll find is an early death. Like the fools scattered at your feet, you’ll die as bạn lived. Unknown and insignificant. A mortal too stupid to see his own limits.”

Every hissing word that escaped that dragon’s jagged maw made Nethelio violently angry. What did a Fallen creature know about prestige? A hideous monster that hung around...
