Fans of "The Vampire Diaries" are very pleased with Nina Dobrev\'s return in last season\'s finale. Dobrev\'s participation in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 finale and Kat Graham\'s exit are among the reasons that convince fans that the "TVD\'s" original protagonist will finally return in the upcoming season. However, it is still unsettled if the actress will return as Katherine or Elena.

Should Nina Dobrev Be Elena Or Katherine In \'The Vampire Diaries\' Season 8?

There is no doubt that the Delena fans are super excited for Nina Dobrev\'s return in "The Vampire Diaries" series. Many assume that this will continue the romance between Damon and Elena. However, per Movie News Guide, those who are not Delena fans find Dobrev\'s exit on the show as a positive one because it makes "TVD" a lot better.

The Elena-Damon reunion is imminent. "The show did so much for Ian and Nina\'s careers and put them on the map. For Julie Plec and the other writers and creators, they feel like they owe it to them to suck it up and send the show off any way they want to send it off," one source said per Parent Herald.

However, another theory suggests that Nina Dobrev\'s return in "The Vampire Diaries" will be as Katherine and not Elena. Per Movie News Guide, Bonnie will not die, so Elena will remain asleep. Thus, Dobrev\'s entry will be as Katherine and not Elena.

Meanwhile, for those who are very excited to watch the new season of "TVD," per Melty the series, along with other shows like "Supergirl," "The Flash," "Arrow" and "Supernatural" has already got a premiere date. "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will return to the small screens on Friday, October 21.
