The Originals' Daniel Gillies on Elijah's Latest Death, 'Doomed' tình yêu Life 

It’s been exactly one week since Elijah’s fatal encounter with The Hollow on

, but we hope you haven’t spent that time shedding any tears over the Big Easy’s best-dressed bloodsucker.

“How many deaths has Elijah had?” actor Daniel Gillies asks TVLine. “I haven’t got the count, but I think a few fans do. At this point, we’ve kind of cried wolf.”

dead — his spirit is currently chilling in Freya’s pendant — that doesn’t mean Gillies put any less effort into his character’s latest demise.

“It’s different every time,” he admits. “It depends on what weapon you’re being murdered with, if you want it slow or fast, and how exhausted you are on set that day. … I’m joking about that last one, of course. It’s contingent on so many little factors. I never want to die exactly the same way twice, even though a couple of the deaths I’ve had might have been similar.”

the kind of death that required a warning from the Powers That Be.

“We usually know when things are going to happen to us about two episodes before they do,

 that,” he notes. “Sometimes it’s only an episode before. Many times, I’ve seen that solemn march down the corridors of an executive produder — poor [Michael] Narducci or Julie [Plec] — having to deliver the dark news that someone has been slain. Fortunately, I haven’t received those tidings.”

Lovers of love, myself included, will appreciate that Hayley is the one tasked with pulling Elijah’s mind back from the brink when

returns on June 2 (The CW, 8/7c). But don’t expect the couple to find its happily-ever-after just yet. As Gillies explains:

It’s sort of who they are, that’s their greatest obstacle. Have you ever been in a relationship where you’re kind of doomed from the get-go? You can sense it in your bones. There’s that feeling that you’re drawn to one another, but at the same time, you’re resisting it with good instinct. And those first instincts are the ones that need to govern. At the end of the day, [Hayley will] always be the mother to Klaus’ child, and he’ll always be murderous monster in a suit. I don’t think they’ll ever extricate themselves from what they are. And what they are at their deepest selves can’t share a sustainable relationship.

Hate that Hayley is the one going inside his mind. It should be Klaus or Rebekah who’s back that episode.

Agree. It’s horrible the show was created for her and they tricked us into believing it’s about The Originals and her chaacter keeps being shoved down our throats in every episode.

It always is funny how what the actors say is the exact opposite of what actually happens. Is HE doomed probably as are all the characters but the show spent 4 years pushing HE (I don’t see klaus an option wether Elijah is in the picture or not) so I don’t see that ending anytime soon unless they go back to them wanting to be together but can’t I think they will keep going on the path they have been on

I respect his opinion but that’s not how I see that couple at all. I don’t think that’s how the show plans to represent their relationship either.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SHOW!!! IN MY OPINION IT IS SOOO MUCH BETTER THAN THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. JUST COULDN’T GET INTO THAT SHOW. THESE CHARACTERS ARE SOOO COOL IN THE ORIGINALS!!! THEY DO ALOT OF FILMING IN MY TOWN OF CONYERS GA. ACTUALLY HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING JOSEPH MORGAN ONE DAY IN OLD TOWN CONYERS GA. JUST THE COOLEST!!! NOT TO MANY SHOWS ON WORTH WATCHING ANYMORE BUT THIS ONE I NEVER MISS!!! PLEASE KEEP MAKING THIS SERIES!!!

i think this season is amazing so far.. id like to see more of Hopes powers… and if anyone from the CW is listening please please please dont cancel Reign!!! Mary is really coming into her own and it would be nice to see how she handles everything..

If Elijah isn’t dying for good then I don’t see how can they end Haylijah. Another “we don’t work” talk won’t have much effect, they said all that before and every time ended up in each others’ arms. Plus she can’t go back to Klaus now because he’s not any less of a murderous monster than his brother and Klaus could never be sure that she’s over Elijah. So I dunno why Daniel is trying to create drama here, if none of them is dying, Elijah and Hayley are pretty much set in stone endgame

Love this show! Keep up the suspense and please keep all the characters…I am still missing Cammie!

I love this show. My favorite is Klaus. He is a lot better when he is vicious he is solo go at it.. Love the way he speaks and Elija too

Delena was based on less so what anybody who isnt elena or damon are doomed not to love wow julie plec weak ass writing.

God, I hope Daniel is right and this Haylijah trainwreck can come to an end. Let Hayley fall in love with Alaric or Marcel and stay far away from Klaus, Elijah, and Kol. Just because Klaus pumped a baby in Hayley doesn’t mean she needs to be with any Mikaelson at all or even be on the show at all.

Thank You! In every interview Daniel has given it’s clear he is completely baffled by the relationship and doesn’t like it. I am equally baffled as well. No matter what their status is when two people have a child it is normal for them to form feelings for each other and/or try to have a relationship together. It was always strange that this didn’t happen with Klaus and Hayley and felt like they were saving Klaus for Caroline. I despise Haley but the biggest problem with her character is that it was never used properly and overstayed its welcome.
