My dad works as a computer designer/programmer/whatever. The important thing is, it has to do with computers. And whenever a new company hires him, they give him a new laptop to work on (he has about three working ones right now. Maybe four. I'm not sure.). Once upon a time, a long, long time cách đây (about three years), my dad worked for some guys down in New York (we live in Nova Scotia, Canada) and, as usual, they gave him a laptop. Actually, they gave him two (not sure why), but one he gave to my mom and the other he kept for himself to work on. But that doesn't matter 'cause this story is only about one of them. Anyway, after a few years, my mom's laptop developed a weird...kink. Quirk. Whatever. The thing is, whenever bạn restarted the laptop, there would be this weird program called "Spoolsv" that would slow down the entire system. I mean really slow down, as in, opening one program might take minutes. Even scrolling down a webpage takes ages, as everything takes forever to load. (On the subject of scrolling down, my dad, since he's a web designer, has his own website that scrolls over instead of up and down. Isn't that awesome? Don't believe me, go to link and see for yourself. Anyway, back to the story...) The only way to get rid of it is to open a Windows Task Manager (which, in case bạn don't know, is a program that shows all other programs, how much energy they're taking up, and can shut them down. And usually takes forever to load. Stupid spoolsv.) and use it to shut spoolsv down. Then it pops up again, and bạn have to shut it down again. It does this three times, then stops. Untill the tiếp theo time bạn restart the laptop. It's annoying, but harmless. Of course, we could have fixed it, hoặc shut it down for good, but we rarely use that laptop anyway, and were all to lazy to waste time on it. Anyway, one day, my dad had to install some programs and other stuff, so, while he was working, he decided to fix the problem once and for all. The tiếp theo day, dad explained what it was. It turns out that spoolsv is actually nothing thêm that a printing program that was, long ago, hooked up to an old printer in New York. The printer had long been out of use, but, once, my mom accidentally sent a file down to it instead of a different program to try and print it. All those years, spoolsv kept trying to send the file to be printed, but had nothing to send it to. He slowed down the whole system in order to get a file printed on a printer that wasn't working. Bummer, isn't it?
A/N: Moral of story: never trust New York. Other moral of story: never eat fried vinegar. Especially with lettuce.
