The brucas one was Ok, im not a BLer so its not cos of the couple but brooke made me laugh in this scene aha :)
But I love all of them! <3
& of course the Naley one ; )
All the others were great!
This scene was hilarious and not just cause of Brooke though even though she made me laugh but the look on Lucas' face was so funny as well :)
a) you are good friends with, and know really well
b) has been there for you during a really hard time, when you needed them
c) you have deep feelings for, and are falling IN LOVE with...
is NOT shallow. Just because Lucas was dating Brooke doesn't make Peyton's intentions shallow. Whether Lucas was single or not, Peyton still had feelings for him, and it wasn't just about sex for her. At all. It was much more than just sex.
As opposed to Brooke, jumping into a complete stranger's backseat naked, shoving her bra in his face, and using that as the opportunity to introduce herself to Lucas. That was Brucas' very first interaction, and Brooke got naked in front of him. That IS shallow. I'm sorry but you can't argue that. Yes, LP came close to sleeping together a couple of times, early on... but there were very deep feelings involved. Both times. Which is way more than I could say for this BL scene. They didn't even have as much as a "Hi, I'm Brooke. Hi, I'm Lucas" without one of them being naked.
But that doesn't bother me at all... it's actually one of the few LP scenes I like... good for Peyton for knowing what she wanted and what she didn't want (except for changing her mind a few episodes later)-- and it doesn't bother me if Brooke was being "shallow" or some might say skanky- in this scene. I like this scene a lot. But I think this scene is ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT scenes in the first season- not as much because it's a BL scene, but more because of what was happening to Lucas's character in this scene. It represented the beginning of what was to come. It's what this scene meant for Lucas that made it so important to the show... this was "the moment when everything changed." Lucas suddenly had the most popular girl in school getting naked in his back seat--- this was the point when he knew that nothing was going to be the same. It's such an incredible moment of clarity for both Lucas and the audience-- THIS is when Lucas changes, THIS is when Lucas becomes popular, THIS is when Lucas will finally begin to be accepted by all the people that have rejected him.
And about the whole Lucas' character changing during that scene thing... that's all well and good. And I completely agree that that scene WAS when things changed for him. But that point is kind of irrelevant to what I was talking about. That's not the aspect of the scene that I was referring to. I was talking strictly about BL, and that scene being one of the reasons that made it hard for me to like them from the start.
That scene being a turning point for Lucas' character doesn't change the fact that it was still BL's first encounter, it was still a shallow scene for Brooke, and it didn't leave me with any good first impressions about BL as a couple, or Brooke being the right girl for Lucas. If the reason that you like this scene is because of what it represents (Lucas' character changing)... then more power to you, and I totally see your point on that. It's just hard for ME personally to like this scene, because its nearly impossible for me to look past the shallowness of it, whenever I watch it. And that's why I like all of these other scenes... except for this one. That's all :)
Peyton: "Do you remember what you said the last time we were here? You said you wanted it all, and I walked away. I made a big mistake that night 'cause all I wanted was sex."
Lucas: "What do you want now?"
Peyton: "Now I want what you wanted. I want everything with you."
So that is her stating that she only wanted sex and she didn't want what Lucas wanted. But as I said before- I think it's fine if Peyton just wanted sex... and I can understand why someone who doesn't like brucas wouldn't like this scene.. I just think it's not JUST a 1x03 Brooke thing to mainly just want to have sex with the person and not be looking for it to mean anything else.
But I do love this scene because of it being a Brooke and Lucas scene... but my main reason for loving this scene is because "How many points in life can you point to and say THAT'S when it all changed?" Lucas had THAT moment in that scene- not just when he made the winning shot.
And yeah, I know what Leyton convo you are talking about. And that never made sense to me. In season 1, she said that she was just scared at first, but that "the truth" was that she DID want all the same things that Lucas wanted... those words came from her mouth. but yet in season 4, she totally contradicted that, and said that all she wanted was sex. Just another example of poor writing that has been done throughout the show. So whether or not that scene at Nathans house was all about sex for Peyton could be looked at either way I guess. Since in one scene she said that it wasnt about sex, and that truth was that she was just running from all the same feelings that Lucas had... and in another scene she said that it was just about sex lol
