Not a higher level of respect, but simply respect. I don't like "artists" that use sex appeal to sell.

Not really. If sex appeal works for them, whatever. I don't blame the artists, I blame the industry and the fans for making it profitable for the industry.

The artists are to blame too.The industry and the fans make this profitable, only because these "artists" accept to use sex appeal to make it in the business in the first place.

I take it that it is just one of their ways to attract the consumers. Of course those that can attract many of us purely with their music, I would regard them more as an 'artist', but I don't have any negative feelings towards those who use their sex appeal. It is one entertainment.

I personally appreciate the heck out of celebrities that don't use their bodies to sell. I respect them a lot for using their musical talent and that alone to make it in the business.

Nicki Minaj, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, and Ke$ha... Yeah. I don't respect them at all. If the artist actually has TALENT, then that is a different story. Miley, Britney, Madonna, and Rihanna all use sex to sell crap, but they're really talented (at least, Britney and Madonna were before all the craziness happened).

Haha, a lot more! Besides, seeing as I'm somewhat asexual (well, demisexual), sex appeal doesn't work on me anyway. If they want me as a fan, they're gonna have to find some other way to do it! XD

I kind of agree with hatelarxene's comment though - if an artist uses sex appeal, but also showcases their musical talents, then that's not as bad. I prefer it when they don't resort to objectifying themselves though, because that way their popularity relies more on their actual talent, which is what it should be about.

I get that there's a lot of pressure in the music industry, and I expect it's often their agents who put them up to this just because they think it'll help them sell more albums, but I seriously do respect those who don't resort to this. ^^

Same here though. Not to mention it's so overdone I usually end up just ignoring it.
