While I grew up watching Star Wars, I grew up reading LOTR, and I always wanted to be an elf-warrior more than a jedi knight (ok, I'm the biggest nerd in the room). LotR already seems incredibly dated (particularly looking at SFX), and working as they were with a beloved series of books they were bound to get stuff wrong. You can argue about how much and to what extent they got it wrong, but they did get it wrong. I just re-watched the trilogy this past week, and by the end I was cringing at how badly they mangled the story. Star Wars began as the films, so there's no expectations other than the films to disappoint viewers. When I first heard that they were making LOTR into a movie, I was kinda angry because there are so few movies that get translated well to the big screen. However, when I saw LOTR I was really suyprised and happy, I enjoyed the way it was adapted. And I can say that about a very few number of books to movie adaptations. I mean, the films could never be as good as the book, but yeah, I definitely enjoyed it. posted hơn một năm qua.
