I really agree with both...

I picked Barney and then I read the question and had a heart-attack.

I don't think Dan's character got screwed up tbh. His character was meant to be more than this sweet lonely boy of s1 and he WAS supposed to be the insider that messed with everyone's lives because he never truly belonged there. The one part I can agree was cheating on Blair with Serena in s5 but still I love his full arc.

But still, Barney's growth was epic and his ending was perfect for me. It would be too un-realistic for him to end up in a happy perfect marriage, he's my male Samantha. And I loved the daughter scene so much!

I just think he got screwed over then he was made to be Gossip Girl....like it literally MAKES NO SENSE!!!!

When it comes to Dan it doesn't even have to do with the fact that he was GG.. I just started having mixed feelings and even disliking him while he used to be like my fave in the beginning.
+ As for Barney, I'm so sad they like 'erased' his progress in a single episode.. He's still awesome in my eyes<3
