I think Stacy hurt House in such a way that he will never be able to love ANYONE as he used to love her but i do think he is over her by now. Cuddy has stayed with House throughout it all and she has known him the longest, even longer than Wilson. If anything, i think she knows him well enough to be able to realise how he handles relationships and therefore if (when!) they finally do something about their relationship, she won't have any expectations, and i think that is exactly what House wants.

Pottergal very nicely summed up the Cuddy-House relationship. I completely agree with her in respects to Cuddy will not have any expectations of House but the fact that Stacy hurt him so much means that he can never love anyone like Stacy as Pottergal once again pointed out. Therefore that must mean he may never be able to love anyone (Cuddy included) as he loved Stacy. My picture of House before Stacy was a bit of a ladies man (really I do), that he pretty much slept around with a lot of girls and never really had any commitments to anyone. I think he met Stacy and fell in love and for once trusted another human and tried to commit to her and open up as much as he could. Stacy left him when he needed her, proving to him that there was no point to trust anyone because you are just going to be hurt. Because of that, and his bad childhood, I don't think he will ever be able to open up fully again, which it partly why Huddy may not work in the end because Cuddy is looking for more than a sex buddy. Anyways he may not be in love with Stacy anymore but she still screwed him up for everyone else to come!

yeh i agree old movie....... but that wasnt the question, the question was could he love someone as much as he loved stacy because he still loves her, which he doesnt. Old movie and pottergal are right, he cant love someone as much because he ruined his trust, but he could still love someone else, just not completely trust them with is entire heart, like he did with stacy ( yet)

Yeah, I think Stacy was the love of House's life, but I don't think he would ever love Cuddy as much as he loved Stacy, even if he was completely over her.

I don't think House sees the two in the same way. His love for the both of them are different because they are two completely different people with a completely different relationship with him. They mean differently to him.

Cuddy is the one who's stayed with him all this time. She's always there for him. Tonight's episode basically screams out she's always there. She stayed by his bedside, held his hand, and watched over him - and her LET her. He was awake and he didn't pull away because he needs her.

^wow shikabane-mai you said all what i was gonna say! as hard as it is to say, i don't think he can love anyone like he loved stacy, because she's his first love. and we all know we can't get that special first love feeling back. but i believe he can love cuddy in a whole new way.

That's why he's not with her anymore. :P

i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVED stacy and house together but i dont think she will ever come back :( then again house and cuddy could work quite well together... :P

i hope in the future we might get to see an episode were house and cuddy first met!
