What is the purpose of all the "tournament" picks?

I'm talking about the
"[Round 4] pick your favorite"

I think it would be smarter and take less effort to just make one huge pick with all the choices.

What are people's reasons for doing it the hard way, which also tends to clutter everything up.

I couldn't agree more. These picks are pointless and annoying -_-

As much as some people hate them, an equal number of people seem to tình yêu them. Personally, I despise them and I strongly protest their existance, but alas I am always over-ruled.

I have been doing my own version of the tournament picks in the link, but over a series of weeks, posting one hoặc two every week.

Some find these annoying, some find them to be a great idea. And the point of fanpop is to make it a place that's fun for everyone. Me, I don't like getting my những thông tin cập nhập swamped with basically the same pick over and over, but otherwise I am apathetic. I use my filters very frequently, so if I don't want to see them in my updates, I don't have to.

Also, there are different outcomes with fewer options than there are with many options. For example, let's take the race for President. Though there are (more than) three parties that run, two (the Republican and Democratic) are the only ones ever taken seriously. However, if the third party wasn't there, it could drastically influence the vote, as those who typically vote for third party candidates would be forced to choose either the democrat hoặc republican candidate.

A lot of people complain about third party candidates for this very reason. Some believe that John Kerry would have won in 2004 if it wasn't for Nader. Now, think if bạn added on a fourth hoặc fifth party. The sự bỏ phiếu for the others would shrink. And one might come on hàng đầu, đầu trang of the other, simply because the loser's voter base decided to go with another candidate.

Picks are the same way.
