Emma Watson\'s speech about feminism was shown in a recent video for Vogue. She recently launched the "HeForShe" campaign last year as a UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador. Apparently, she and many noted designers such as Stella McCartney, Jonathan Saunders, Erdem Moralioglu and Bella Freud shared their views on sexism and racism in the fashion industry.
It has been a year since she launched her "HeForShe" campaign in promoting gender equality in different industries to date. Recently, she focused her efforts in the fashion industry.
Noted fashion designers such as Stella McCartney, Jonathan Saunders, Erdem Moralioglu and Bella Freud also voiced out their views about the fashion world as an industry that still practices sexism and racism.
Watson is due to be the cover of Vogue Magazine\'s September 2015 edition, reported Huffington Post.
The former "Harry Potter" star stated that, "I have big hopes for gender equality in the fashion industry. I think it\'s really improving. I\'ve seen some very positive steps towards equality in the industry."
"I think there\'s a lot of racism, I think there\'s a lot of sexism. I\'d really love to see a more diverse representation of women and men in any way that makes them feel empowered," she said.
The other noted designers also reiterated that they think the fashion industry needs to improve on their efforts to promote gender equality, reported Hollywood Life. However, they, too, feel that it needs a lot of work to push through, especially when women are not valued equally to men in such industry.
Emma Watson\'s speech on gender equality have definitely sparked positive effects. She has been promoting the equality towards women in all aspects in life. In fact, she received tremendous amounts of support and recognition during a UN conference last January 2015. Clearly, she has sparked awareness for all women in the world. Go, Emma!
