when a black friend of mine found out that the nursery rhyme had been changed at his little sister's nursery school he said
"what? are sheep too good to be called black now?"

that's just silly. it's not as if the original song was meant as a racial slur.

This is exactly why the world will end within the next 10 years.

The human race has reached the peak of idiocy.

Come on, you can't call it a blackboard any more! Now it's a chalkboard. Does that mean you can't call a whiteboard a whiteboard any more because it's racist to white people? Oh no wait, it's only black people you can be racist to. I forgot.

Right, this is what cheeses me off.

One, it's a FUNKING SHEEP! Not a person!
And two, it's just stating the sheep is black, it's not saying the sheep is evil because it's black.

If my cousin (who is three years old) ever gets taught this rediculous piece of crap I will teach him to say "Baa Baa Black Sheep" just to go against P-Cness.

I didn't even think of it as being racial until I saw the pick. Even then it took me a minute. The way to get rid of racism isn't to remove references - it's to not even notice it. Like, instead of seeing a black man, you see a man. Instead of seeing and asian girl, you see a girl. By changing this, you are only pointing it out and teaching children that there is a difference.

When I first heard this I got so worked up.
I grew up with the nursery rhyme and I never once saw it offensive, no one I knew ever saw it as offensive.
Spotty_Vision21 is right. Pointing out there is a difference makes children point it out more.

I couldn't believe it when my friend told me one day her little sister came home singing " Ba Ba Rainbow sheep "
I don't get it. There are no rainbow sheep. There ARE black sheep. And on top of that... rainbow sheep doesn't rhyme as well as black does. Its got too many syllables in it.

AND on top of all of that, if there are black people who think this rhyme is racist, then they are only bringing it upon themselves. Its a silly thing to cause a fuss over. If you really want to relate yourself to a sheep, then go ahead I'm not going to stop anyone. Its getting to the point now, where we're not aloud to say black, or people are afraid of saying it.
I once got yelled at by about 5 people in my spanish class who were all black, because I was asked to repeat all the colours in spanish... I eventually got to the last colour which was black and therefore said negro.. and they all got mad. I'm sorry.. I didn't invent the spanish language. ITS A COLOUR. Its not racist.

Okay... rant over :)

I don't think it is. I think some people just over-analyzed the song.
