Now A Suit That Fits’ Belfast studio is up and running, it’s about time we delved into the world of Northern Irish style!
Read on to find out who Northern Ireland’s best-dressed male stars are!
There’s no question about who tops the list of Northern Ireland’s best-dressed men. That honour goes to actor and model Jamie Dornan, who’s about to appear on the big screen wearing Christian Grey’s famous grey suit in
Belfast-born but residing in London, Dornan is possibly the most talked-about Northern Irish star around at the moment.
As for his style, Dornan’s a model so he’s appeared numerous times in heavyweight publications like
GQ and Esquire, where they tend to put him in a slim fit, blue or grey suit.
Catch him in the second series of Belfast-based drama series The Fall soon.
Compared to Dornan, McCann may not be the most famous of actors, but he’s certainly made waves in Ireland recently.
In 2011, he won the award for Best Actor in a Feature Film at the Irish Film & Television Awards for his role in
Swansong. He used his acceptance speech to declare that he was “very proud to be Irish.”
On the night, McCann demonstrated his classic style in a black tux with a winged collar shirt – next to Kim Cattrall, no less!
You probably know Colin Morgan from his role in BBC TV’s
. He’s also an experienced thespian, having made his West End debut in an adaptation of DBC Pierre’s
Vernon God Little. He’ll appear next year in Tom Hardy’s Kray twins movie Legend.
Morgan was born in Armagh, Northern Ireland, and went on to study Performing Arts in Belfast.
He’s also been signed on to star alongside fellow Northern Irishman Jamie Dornan in the second series of The Fall.
Well, he’s modeled for the tailoring company Hackett and has this to say about suits: “The focus on the suit, the cut of it, the individuality of it, speaks volumes about its wearer. It’s about making a statement but in a casual way because as much as the image is important, so is comfort (physically and mentally).” Interesting stuff!
Hannon isn’t as “mainstream” as he was when he hit the big time in the chamber pop group The Divine Comedy in the 90s. He has, however, achieved recognition since for writing and producing an opera for the Royal Opera House and for penning the theme tune to the widely-acclaimed Leos Carax movie
Hannon is the original sartorial popstar, always appearing immaculately suited in promotional shoots.
Born in Derry, he grew up in County Fermanagh and is active professionally in London.
Vikings and Hammer of the Gods, Clive Standen is also one of the best-dressed, up-and-coming celebrities to have been born in Northern Ireland. He even gives Jamie Dornan a run for his money in that department.
Check out how well Standen wears this sumptuous, grey, Tom Ford suit (featured in
Standen was born on a British Army base in Northern Ireland but grew up in England. I’ll leave it to you to figure out whether that qualifies him for a position in our best-dressed Northern Irish stars list.
