I remember visiting this website once...
It was called USS Caryl
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Welcome to the USS Caryl, your number one source for all things Daryl and Carol from AMC\'s "The Walking Dead." We are Captain Janne, Quarter Master Haley, First Mate ReadersMuse, and Lookout Rhinozilla.
gave us several powerful emotional interludes between
that revealed a lot about their own mentality but also illustrated just how far their own connection has come.
Daryl being the one coaxing and pulling Carol back from the edge
and a maturity their re-connection has brought to this new dynamic between them that seems to be
leading towards them getting even closer in the future.
Recalling a scene from earlier in the episode where
Carol went through a slight emotional outburst
uses a quiet moment to coax out more about what exactly she meant with that.
she thinks he was like before as opposed to who he is now, she says;
"It’s like you were a kid. Now you’re a man."
deliberately picked up a book about surviving childhood abuse, which was already alluded to in the show, and in the earlier seasons we observed his guarded-harsh ways as he lashed out at anyone coming at him whether it was bad or good.
Carol recognized the fear, the child-like raw anger and the apprehension from the very start because it was a pain she too was familiar with BUT she also recognized the transformation in him since then and as she looks at him there is a hint of pride on her face because she sees just how far he’s come since.
When he asks “what about you?”, both the audience and
was and just how many heavy emotional burdens she is battling with.
"Me and Sophia stayed at that shelter for a day and a half before I went running back to Ed.
I went home, I got beat up, life went on, and I just kept praying for something to happen.
Who I was with him she got burned away. And I was happy about that. I mean, not happy, but.. And at the prison I got to be who I always thought I should be, thought I should’ve been. And then she got burned away. Everything now just consumes you.”
As she talks about her transformations there is a sense that she believes that who we are is always temporary and that the harshness of the world these days is capable of burning your sense of self into oblivion
until there is no other choice but to become something new There is an overwhelming feeling that Carol feels lost, alone and even apathetically invisible.
right away and says “Hey, we ain’t ashes” as if to remind her that
and that no matter what they’ve done to survive, they are never fully consumed or burned away.
The essence of who they truly are is never erased and something no “fire” can destroy completely.
To him she is still Carol, who she’s always been and after what she told him about Ed and that shelter, even a stronger reflection of him than either realized before.
They have both changed from their past personas and
realizes that the bond they have with one another has played a big part in that transition because
the stronger and better parts of themselves were not just mutually seen but were also mutually nurtured.
he’s become more thoughtful, introspective and confident in who he is.
He’s a man whose input and presence matters, not a boy who blindly follows his brother around.
She believed in that man before even he himself did.
, she believed that she could be an equal in this world, that her opinion mattered and that
She was important to him and he wanted her to keep trying. He needed her to believe she wasn’t consumed into ashes, that she wasn’t an empty shell but most importantly that
to him she wasn’t so “too far gone” that she had to become someone new.
