phippi2 Chapter 26
I'm not the lady's man
Percy
I thought I was done for. But as soon as she was about to strike, she stopped and her jaw dropped. I looked were she was and saw the image of Hestia slowly fading. The Amazonian Queen sneered and jerked me up. "You're lucky that the gods are on your side, or you'd be a skewer right now," she said in Ancient Greek, which gladly I understood and could answer back, but I was too shocked to say anything.
Hippolyta whistled. Then at least twenty more Amazon women appeared from out of the forest ranging from 13-50 years of age. One girl caught my eyes. She looked around my age and was a brunette. Her eyes were greenish blue and she was looking straight at me with a slight smile on her face. For some reason, I felt embarresed, so I looked away.
But the Queen saw that I looked and she grabbed my hair and pulled me up. "Why," she asked. "Are you looking at my daughter, Princess Kamerad?" Uh Oh, I thought. "I'm sorry, I am just in shock." I told her. She rolled her eyes and told three of the women to tie me up. They did and one of them slapped my head.
After they were done, the Queen knelt besides me and said, "Where did you come from?" I wasn't about to tell them about either camps. So I said the first thing I thought of. "Well, I am from Manhautten, New York, but-" "I MEAN JUST NOW YOU IDIOT!!!" She yelled at me. "Oh," I replied. "I came from the infirmary." Then she asked, "Where's the infirmary?" I replied, "Next to the arena." "Where's the arena?" "Right on the borders of the place I came from."
Her face turned red and she asked one more question. "I saw you walking in the southwest direction. I bet you came from somewhere in the North. How far is this place from where we stand?" I didn't know how to answer this question without giving her the exact place where Camp Romana is. I kept my mouth shut.
Hippolyta and her warriors went to go look for a place like I described. She put her daughter, Kamerad in charge of me. When they had all left, the princess sat next to me. Then she said, "You are a pretty good fighter for a man," she told me. i remembered how the Amazon women were the warriors while the men were the 'housewives'.
She continued, "I've never met anyone like you before. And sorry I was staring. You interest me." She put her hand on my chest. I removed it and backed away a little.Awkward. I just started at her, eyes wide. She blushed and stood up and walked to a tree. I felt bad and decided to follow. "Kamerad, I don't think this would work. I just don't like you like that, I barely know you! Besides, I have a girl I'm crazy about."
She sighed, then sat up and pulled her knife to my throat. She said in a rough voice, "You dare to turn down the Amazon Princess? If I can't kill you, I'll bring you so much pain you'll wish you were dead!"
She attacked, but I jumped out of the way and pulled out Riptide just in time. I'd faughten Annabeth a million times before, so I knew how to defend myself. I think I knew more about knifes than Kamerad did because I disarmed her in a minute, but she didn't back down. She turned up her nose and walked away.
I felt too awkward to follow her, so I sat down and waited until the Queen came back, with something that made my insides boil. It was Caleb, unconscience and bruised. When Hippolyta saw my expression, she smirked. "Are you willing to talk now, boy?"

phippi2 Chapter 27
Frying Pans: The ultimate weapon
Leo
This morning, I woke up at like 5 AM and could't go back to sleep. Breakfast wasn't until 6, so I took my time getting ready. I took a shower and got dressed. I still had like 45 minutes until it was time to eat, so I reached into my magic toolbelt and pulled out a project I'd been working on.
It was a remote control that could control everything on the Argo II. Me and Mike had been working on this since we started building. We could control all the weapons, the engine, adjust the mast, and even steer the boat. Annabeth told me that Percy could do that, but I wanted to build it anyway.
I had finished connecting the wires to the curcit when the shell blew. I sat there a few minutes and headed to breakfast early. Some of the Hermes' kids were already there, so I didn't feel that awkward. I took the remote back out until the rest of the campers showed up.
I put it away and the Nympths brought out the magic cups and cinnimon toast. I walked to the hearth and did the usual offering. I sat down and shoveled my food in my mouth. I washed it down with a cup of chocolate milk. Like every Monday morning, the counselors from every cabin wood plan out the activities this week with Chiron.
After I finished, I walked to the Big House. I sat on the porch until the others arrived. First, Piper and Annabeth came. Annabeth had an owl on her shoulder and Piper was scratching under it's chin. "Hey," I said. "What's with the owl?" The owl cood and Annabeth looked like she was listening. "Leo, meet Kathodegese, Kathodegese meet Leo."
Kathodegese held out his wing, and I awkwardly shook it. "So, where did you get him?" Piper asked. Annabeth replied, "My mom gave him to me as a gift. He is a very wise animal." I looked behind them and saw Clovis from the Hypnos cabin, Jenna Conner from Nike, Will Solace from Apollo, Ty Knight from Hecate, Karen, and all of the other conselors with Chiron. He saw Kathodegese, but didn't say anything.
We went and sat around the ping-pong table. "Now," said Chiron. "Let's start our weekly meeting. First off, Percy is gone again. But no need to worry. I have a feeling he is in good hands. Next, the-" He was interupted when Jason sprinted through the door. "Sorry I'm late. The Hunters arrived this morning and I wanted to see Thalia before they went hunting." "It's quite alright, Jason." Chiron said.
"Now as I was saying, Jason, the Hephaestus, and the Athena cabins will be working on the Argo II all day today, as usual. After lunch, Piper and her cabin will help paint. Annabeth, Jason, and Leo may leave. I need to discuss the activities with the others." We walked out and headed to Bunker 9.
Both cabins were already there and we got to work straight away. At lunch time, I wasn't hungry. So instead, I walked to the canoe lake. I sat down on the pier and let my feet dangle in the water. I had a feeling something dangerous was in there, so I took my feet out of the water. Then a something popped out of the water.
It's head looked like a T-Rex with a hooked nose, but I doubted it taught kids to wash there hands before they eat. I ran towards land, but it crawled out and revealed the rest of it's body. It had two huge, webbed fore arms and a tail like a big fish. It grabbed me with one of it's claws and lifted me into the air.
Filled with panic, I reached into my toolbelt and pulled out a frying pan. When it lifted me to it's mouth, I smacked the pan into the monster's face it roared in pain and backed up. I kept hitting it in various places until it dropped me and retreated back in the lake. At least that's over, I thought. I blew on my frying pan and put it back in my belt western-style.
I jogged over to the pavilion and sat down at my table. Everyone else had already eaten. When I arrived, Mike asked me, "Where've you been?" I told him the story. "Well," I said. "I've learned one thing today: Frying Pans are the ultimate weapons."

phippi2 Chapter 28
I make a friend
Percy
I didn't really know Caleb that well, but I couldn't even think about what those women would do to her if I told them no. I was stuck: either save Caleb and put the camp at risk or save the camp and risk Caleb's life. What should I do!
"Well boy," said Hippolyta. "What is it gonna be? The life of this weakling girl, or the fate of where ever you came from. Choose NOW!!!" I can't choose between things like this. It makes me feel like a traitor to the one I don't choose. I couldn't stand this anymore!
"ANSWER NOW, YOU USELESS MAN!!!" I couldn't hold it in any longer. "NO!!!" I yelled a massive wave about 100 ft high came over the brush. The Amazonians screamed as the water engulfed them. I jumped to Caleb just in time to keep her from drowning.
After the water had gone away, I passed out. I woke up in the same spot, but now my head was in the lap of Caleb. "Hey. It's Tyson, right? What are doing here? I woke up and I was laying next to you." I stood up but fell down. Luckily, Caleb caught me.
"Hold on, you still weak. But while we are here, why don't I whip up some food?" I nodded and she made some herbs grow and made some tea and all kinds of vegies. During this time, we got to know each other. I summerized all that happened in the last week. And she told me about her life before Camp Romana.
Since her mother was Ceres, she grew up with her dad (who could see through the mist) in Detriot until she turned seven. She had an older sister at camp named Heather and a younger brother name Carlos. She had always defended herself in school and Carlos in school. Her life was similar to mine in a way.
While we ate, she told me a story. "When I turned 12, I went on my first quest with Bobby, son of Apollo, Dakota, son of Trivia (who is now part of a circus in Memphis) and Gwen, daughter of Victoria. We were supposed to go to LA and retrieve a replica of Mercury's cicadus in a museum.
After defeating the entrance guard (Which later we found out was a Styphilian Bird) we retrieved the cicadus and battle our way back to camp. Then I met Saul and now we are like siblings."
I coughed when she said Saul's name. "Saul? When I arrived at camp, he acted as if he hated me." Caleb frowned and poured me some more tea. "He's just...emotional. He was a good friend of Jason's and when he went missing, he seemed really cross with everyone. I'm sure it's just temperary."
I stared at the sky. I could see Zoe's constellation. Then I realized how late it was. I said, "You get some sleep. I'll keep 1st watch." She nodded. I just sat there thinking of all I was missing back at Camp Half-Blood until my shift was over and Caleb took over. I layed down and had a dream. No. A nightmare.

phippi2 Chapter 29
Maybe Greeks aren't so bad after all
Reyna
When Jason said I couldn't go to the meeting, I was kinda upset. He stayed and told me it was just to discuss what they were doing for the day and reluctently I stayed behind. I sat by the arena until Jason arrived again. "I have to go help Leo work on the boat. Wanna come with?" I thought about it for a moment. "Naw, I'll pass." He gave me his award winning smile and left.
I sat back down and watched the fighting in the arena. There were some older kids practicing on the edge of the battle area. When they fought, it was more light footed and quick and flowing. Way different than what I'm used to. I'm used to being grounded, and making my moves hard and sharp. I bet I could beat any of them in a fight. I was studying their moves and trying to find out the best way to do different moves when one girl caught my eyes.
She was big, strong, and very scary. Must be a daughter of Mars, I thought. She was teaching a group of younger kids. She said, "First, you need to make sure your xithos is balanced in your hand. Then begin by visualizing an attacker of your height and build before you as you begin to practice. Attempt the basic overhead, outside and inside bodily cuts while targeting vital areas of your opponent, in particular the temple, neck, bridge of the nose, ribs, kidneys, groin and shins. Blocks are traditionally designed to protect these same areas by diverting or absorbing incoming blows with the "flat" of the blade. Repeatedly practice these basic blocks and cuts, stepping forward and backward as you alternate between attack and defense. Once you are comfortable with your progress with initial overhead and side cuts, begin focusing your attention on the edge of your sword. This helps keep the blade steady as you slice in order to minimize any wavering from the blade. After that, work on your jabs, strikes and parries that I showed you yesturday. Those are just the basics of the basics. We will get into real fighting after you master these moves. Any questions?"
That was all wrong. She can't implant these false lessons in a young warriors mind. I walked over and raised my hand. She looked at me and sneered. "What is it? And who are you?" I stepped forward. "I am Reyna Shaw, daughter of Pluto. And being Roman, I can tell you your methods of fighting are inataquit." She got right in my face. "Yeah then, what were you gonna teach them?"
I cleared my throat and stepped up. "Roman soldiers practiced sword combat with wooden swords that were twice as heavy as common ones. The reason for this was that when they started to carry the common swords they were much lighter and this helped them to act with greater precision and force at times of action. A soldier was taught to practice with both the sword and shield. He was also taught the proper way to advance, retire, and take every advantage of his opponent. Most importantly he was warned not to "lay himself open to his antagonist while aiming his stroke at him.A roman soldier was also trained in certain sword maneuvers such as not to cut with the sword but to thrust instead. This type of fighting enabled the Romans to easily defeat their enemies who cut with their swords instead of stabbing. The Romans' logic on this manner of sword fighting was that a hit with the edge of the sword rarely killed whereas a sharp stab will almost always be fatal. Another reason they fought this way was that when stabbing, the arm and side of the body are not exposed. However, when striking or cutting, the arm and side are exposed making the soldier more vulnerable to his enemy."
The girl with the bandana rolled her eyes. "Most of the time you won't get a clean stab. Cuts injure your opponet and distract him long enough to make the final strike. Besides, I could so beat you any day," she said. All the kids cheered. "I doubt it." I said. The girl spit into the grass. "Well let's see. Jordan. Annouce us." The boy who was name3d Jordan got up and walked over. "On the Roman side, there is Reyna shaw, daughter of Pluto. On the Greek side is Clarrise la Rue, daughter of Ares and the drakon slayer. GO!!!"
I drew my gladus and she her xithos. She began staring me down. than I realized she was detecting my weak points. I attacked. i made a quick jab into her belly, but she blocked it and hit my wrist with the flat of her blade. After I recomposed myself, she knocked me to the ground. I kicked her feet from under her and attempted to stab her head. She rolled away and we got back to our possitions.
This time, she striked first. She cut, but I parried. She attempted to cut again but I saw that coming. But at the last second she flicked her wrist and knocked my sword out of my hands. I kicked her in the gut and ran for my gladus. I reached it and we went back to blocking and parrying each other's blows. But after half an hour, she got inside my defence and disarmed me, this time for good.
She sneered and grabbed my sword. "I told you so," she said. I took the sword out of her hand and started to walk away. "Hey, Reyna. You were pretty good." I looked at her in disbelief. "What? Just because I'm not the nicest person in the world doesn't mean I don't recongnize a good fighter when I see one. You can practice here as long as you're staying." "
"Thanks," I said, walking away. That was...unexpected, I thought. I went over to some practice dummies and started to slice them to shreds. I did that until I heard a conch horn and followed the crowd to lunch. I saw Jason and walked over to him. He was talking to Piper. I didn't not like Piper or anything, but when she was near Jason, I could tell that there was something in her eye, a look of longing. It made me feel uncomfortable.
I tapped on his shoulder. he turned around and kissed me on the cheek. "Hey Rey. How was your day so far?" I shrugged. "I lost against Clarrise in a fight, but she was really impressed." "Good," He said. "I gotta go sit at the Zeus table. I'll see you after lunch." We parted ways and I sat at the Hades table. The Nympths brought out platters of sandwhiches and chips.
One of them gave me an empty glass. I figured it was like at Camp Romana, so I wished for Dr.Pepper and took a sip. I got up and went to the hearth like the other campers. Dad, if you are listening please help me get along with these Greeks. I mean, I guess they are ok but they do things so different. Please help me to not get into any more fights. I scraped some food in and sat down.

phippi2 Chapter 30
It depends on how you see it
Percy
I was in Boreas' Palace. But instead of me watching them, I was carefully inspecting the statues, looking for my mom, stepdad, and Nico. I found my parents at the left hand of Boreas. They were holding on to each other with closed eyes. It wasn't the position that they had been frozen in, but I didn't really care. Next I went to Nico. His sword was drawn and he had anger in his eyes. Also, not the position I remember him in.
Then my dream shifted. The statues-my parents and Nico- were in there original position in front of Boreas. "Unfreeze them," said the wind god. Khione stepped forward and touched their forheads. The ice turned to snow and fell off of them. The shivered and took deep breaths. "Now, I'll give you another chance," Boreas said. "Tell us where the seven are and you'll be set free."
My mom shivered then replied. "We-we don't kn-know who or-whe-where they are." Khione unsheathed a sword made of ice and put it under my mom's chin. I wanted to attack, but I couldn't. Nico took out his black Stygian sword and pointed it at her. "If you dare to harm them, you will have me to mess with," he said in Ancient Greek. Khione made a face and replied back. "I'm not afraid of you, or anyone else. Prepare to be frozen forever!!!" My parents held each other and Khione froze them again.
Then the dream shifted.
Tyson was surrounded by fire, but he didn't mind. He was crafting a brilliant sword out of some kind of clear metal. "Nice work, cyclops." Tyson turned around to see Hephaestus. "Lord Hephaestus," he said. "What do you need?" Hephaestus reached into his shirt pocket and pulled out some wires. "I need you to make something very important for me." Tyson put down the sword and soluted. "Ok! What do you want me to make?"
Hephaestus had made a little butterfly and it fluttered around the room. "I need you to make a weapon for the Argo II. See?" Hephaestus showed Tyson a blueprint. "This will enable Percy to shoot a hard blast of water at only one target. It's the same thing with lightning for Jason and fire for Leo. It also enhances their powers and can be used as a cross-bow." Tyson was now jumping up and down with excitement. "I'll get started right away!"
Then I woke up.
Caleb had made bread (I don't know how, but she did) and butter. I sat down, made my offering to Demeter and ate my breakfast. Afterwards, we decided to head back to camp. It was only about an hour or so away but we were too tired yesturday. When we got back, I saw Saul run over to us. "Caleb! Oh gods, are you ok? I was looking..." He stopped when he saw me. "What are you doing here? I thought you were gone. Would have been best if you were." Then I got angry. "Look, pretty boy. I have enough going on in my life right now, so I don't need you to be mad at me. I met Jason on my quest. He had to go back to the Greek version of Camp Romana to-"
"Wait," He said. "You're Greek? No wonder your such an idiot." That tore it. I took out my sword and charged. He grabbed a spear out a harness on his back and got ready. I jabbed, but he blocked with the butt of his weapon. He stabbed but I sidestepped and cut his shoulder. He growled in pain. He fought harder and so did I. Then it happened. The pain in my torso came back. But I couldn't back down. I kept on fighting until I felt all the blood drain from my face. I clutched my wound and went down. Saul saw the opportunity and attempted to strike, but I kicked his feet from under him.
"Wow," Caleb said. "Calm down. No need to fight. Percy did nothing to you, Saul. Well other than what just happened, but that doesn't count." Saul walked over to Caleb and told her something in Latin. I caught the word "trust" but that was it. ten he stormed off. "What was that about?" I asked. Caleb sighed then replied. "He says that trust doesn't mean anything anymore. It's only a word." She knelt down adn I crawled over to her. "It depends on how you see it." She smiled, which made me feel 100x better. "Thanks Percy. Now let's get you to the infirmary."
