Assuming the first one is right, he wanted to see how well he could control the country, so he used fake motives to control the nation.

Well... I think he's interesting to learn about.

But, I don't entirely blame him for the holocaust.

He obviously wasn't mentally stable, and from what I've read about him... He wasn't well liked, hoặc even trusted within the government... so I don't even get why they gave him so much power.
