Once Upon a Time Photos: Emma/ Regina Team Up, Merida vs. Rumple 

has released a flurry of photos from this Sunday’s “Dreamcatcher” episode, featuring Henry and his moms launching a new operation, Merida making Rumple “brave,” Belle’s dilemma and a splash of teen love.

Per ABC’s synopsis: As a spelled Snow and Charming attempt to retrieve the Dark One’s dagger, Emma uses a dreamcatcher to look into the past to see how Merlin was transformed into a tree. She and Regina then figure out the critical ingredient they must acquire to free Merlin — which Arthur does

want to happen. Back in Storybrooke, the heroes break into Emma’s house hoping to locate Gold, but instead get a glimpse of Emma’s end game. Meanwhile, a coerced Merida begins molding Rumple into the hero they need to draw out Excalibur.

Emma and Regina working together, now that is the core of the show. Strong women working together and getting things done. And finally some scenes with his mom’s without their useless boyfriends being stuck to them like white on rice becuz (no homo) is great.

I think it is ridiculous to have Merida is teaching Rumple how to be brave since he unselfishly gave up his life in season 3 to defeat Pan and save everyone but consistent characterizations of characters is not OUAT’s strong point. Like, you are in a town full of heroes but yet, you got to create one .

I wonder if the dreamcatchers is a perversion of Emma the savior. First, I hate that there are labels and Season 1 Emma was constantly fighting against the title but whatever. Anyway, the “savior” is suppose to get everyone their happy ending (though breaking the curse should have did that) and now, as a theory, Dark Swan is capturing what everyone’s happy ending is.

I still wish Dark Swan’s arc really captures Emma’s bottled emotions of abandonment and wrongs done by people she cares but it is shaping that her story line is actually just a prop to give Hook a storyline of him learning to love Emma, like he some great catch

You’re forgetting that Rumple as the dark one is very different from just plain Rumple. When he was brave in the past he was still the dark one. Now that he’s just plain Rumple, he’s not so brave. There’s no inconsistency here, just your inability to understand that being the dark one changes a person and losing that changes them back.

Not really. It is the fault of Adam for not getting their own characters right. Even though they say that Rumple was a coward, he wasn’t. He was willing to face very probably death in a war that no body wanted. He only broke his leg to not go into war because he didn’t want to leave Baelfire fatherless, not the fear of dying in of itself. That is not exactly cowardly to me, but to each his/her own.

Characters right wrong? Nothing wrong with how they wrote Rumple. Rumple heard what the Seer said and assumed going to War would cause Bae to be fatherless. Instead of asking how Bae would becomes fatherless, he jumped to conclusions and injured himself.

I cannot wait for this episode. Emma and Regina? Emma and Henry? Emma, Regina AND Henry? Thank goodness for that family dynamic that has been missing this season. Lana and Jen play both sides of their relationship so well it will be fun to see it all in one episode – a team in Camelot and at odds in Storybrooke.
