Chapter 2:
Robb and Jon went trang chủ with a gloomy silence between them. This was not the first time there had been a clash between the Starks and the Lannisters, and quite often it did end in physical blows, but never before had Robb been attacked bởi a girl. Well, in that sense, anyway.
"She had no right to hit you", Jon đã đưa ý kiến as they got out of the car, walking towards the apartment they shared. Ironically enough, they shared a place as well as the Lannister girls did.
"Of course not. That Joffrey's a right little prick, but still", Robb shook his shoulders. "I don't get the rivalry between our families."
Jon agreed. It had started way before they had become the two most successful lawfirms in the UK.
Some đã đưa ý kiến it was because of a girl a Stark and a Lannister had both loved, a long ago. Some đã đưa ý kiến it went back to the days before there were even people to write down the tale. The two families were very old, but not quite that old.
Exhausted, the boys collapsed on the đi văng they had in the middle of their two-bedroom apartment, turning on the TV. They didn't have much to do these days. They were both between jobs and Jon was considering going away to the army for a further education. Of course Robb would not allow it, nor would Arya hoặc Bran. But Jon had always had trouble with Catelyn, their father's wife. He was the bastard and therefore he did not deserve to be loved like the rest of them. hoặc that was at least what Catelyn made it seem like.
Robb looked around the apartment, feeling thêm bored than he had whilst watching their siblings practice their - quite awful - diễn xuất skills.
He had a pretty good life, he had always had one. He was close to his entire family, had a great friend in both Jon and Theon Greyjoy, his childhood friend, he'd had plenty of girlfriends, most serious ones being with girls named Jeyne and Talisa. But in the end they'd both gone south.
Jon, on the other hand, had not had things so well. Yes, his father and his siblings loved him, but the shadow of her stepmother's hatred for him had never left his side. He had had one serious relationship in his life, with a girl named Ygritte.
She had been as extraordinary as her name, but then she'd went away like all the rest of them.
They were both lone wolves, Stark and Snow.
An giờ later Jon left Robb to his thoughts to go and pick their sisters up from the rehearsals, and when he did, he brought them back to their apartment for a cup of trà and a chat, like they did most weeks.
"I got the main role", Sansa, in all her beauty and grace, announced as she entered the apartment first, giving Robb her loveliest smile.
Robb chuckled in amusement. "The lovely princess?"
"No, the Công chúa tóc xù heroine", Sansa blushed. "I don't always have to play the princess."
"Then why do bạn want to?" Arya snapped, her and Jon following Sansa into the apartment. "I get to play the grumpkin."
Robb and Jon both laughed at this.
"It's not even funny, bạn idiots", Arya đã đưa ý kiến in agitation and walked over to the phòng bếp, nhà bếp to put up a pot of tea.
"I saw bạn talking to the two Lannister girls today", Sansa said, sitting tiếp theo to Robb on the couch, eyeing Jon. "The pretty ones. I don't know their names. Rachel and.."
"Laura", Jon said, as if it was as easy as anything.
Robb snorted.
Sansa hit him lightly on the arm. "You don't have to be such a jerk about it, either of you. The Lannisters are not all so bad."
"What, who, Joffrey?" Robb snapped.
"No", Sansa sighed. "Tyrion."
Jon and Robb exchanged glances.
"Tyrion, the.. dwarf?" Jon asked.
Sansa groaned, standing up from the couch.
Jon had met the dwarf a few times and actually liked him. Perhaps he understood where Sansa was coming from, but it was certainly not like the young girl to pay attention to such men.
"Anyway, they're beautiful, the Lannister girls", Sansa said, smiling knowingly. "Or what, do bạn disagree?"
Robb remembered Rachel punching him across the face, but he still found himself saying: "No."
Meanwhile Rachel and Laura were walking Myrcella and Tommen back to Cersei's apartment, talking about what had happened earlier.
"You should not have hit him", Laura said. "Lannisters don't act like fools", she imitated their father.
Rachel snorted. "Father would have done the exact same thing."
"No, Jaime would have done the exact same thing. As well as Cersei. You're too much like them."
Rachel didn't mind. There were worse people to be compared to than Jaime and Cersei Lannister. "And you're too much like father. And Tyrion."
"Ah, what did I ever do wrong to make bạn say that?" Laura groaned.
"It's the truth. Take it. They're both extremely clever, I wouldn't complain."
"I like Tyrion", Myrcella suddenly spoke up. "He often fights with mom and grandpa, but he's good to us."
"I agree", Tommen said, and with that they walked the rest of the way in silence.
When they reached Cersei's apartment, she opened the door and smiled at her children.
"Hi. Did bạn have a good time?"
"I'm playing a princess", Myrcella announced.
"Well, of course bạn are", Cersei smirked, letting the kids in before turning to look at her sisters. "Want to come in?"
"No, we're gonna go have something to eat and get over this latest tragedy", Laura said.
"What tragedy?" Cersei asked, narrowing her eyes.
"Rachel totally punched a Stark in the face. Rightfully so, he was being a cunt about our family", Laura said.
"When are the Starks not... cunts.. about our family?" Cersei gave them an amused smile. "Which one?"
"Which one he insulted hoặc which one was he?" Laura asked, while Rachel avoided the conversation, for some reason not happy to be reminded of the event. "Because the one he insulted was Joffrey, surprise, surprise, and she hit-"
"Robb Stark!" Rachel shouted in anger. "I punched Robb Stark in the face, will bạn just get over it? When Joffrey punched him, no one wrote a bloody ballad about it", with that she stormed out of the hallway and right out of the building.
Laura turned to look at Cersei in amusement. "She's in love, our Rachel."
Cersei smiled in amusement. "Seems to be so. So.. he was.. Insulting Joffrey?"
"Sorry, sis, but he had a right to. bạn gotta think a little about what your son is doing", Laura said. "Not just to others but to himself as well."
Cersei gave her a tense nod. "I'll take that into consideration."
"And since your husband was not the father", Laura added quietly, looking at Cersei. "I think bạn and I both know who is."
Cersei stared at her in shock, unable to speak. How could she know?
"I'll see bạn and our sister soon", with that Cersei slammed the door closed in Laura's face.
Later that ngày Rachel and Laura were at Starbucks, going through the newspaper to see the latest phim chiếu rạp playing in the theatres.
"Nothing romantic hoặc so help me God..", Rachel muttered, putting her hair up in a messy bun. She was wearing her đọc glasses. She truly didn't need them, but at one point she had, and she'd grown so used to them. Besides, they looked cute.
Laura, on the other hand, was wearing her hair down and had buried her head in one of the newspapers, hoping to just escape the headache she'd had ever since she'd told Cersei she knew her secret.
They often hung out at Starbucks. They liked the drinks and the snacks and there were - bởi some miracle - often at least a bàn hoặc two free for them.
"I don't get your dilemma with romance", Laura said, looking up at her sister. "It didn't stop ya from dating like a thousand guys."
"I've only had two boyfriends in my life, bạn little shit", Rachel snapped. "And you, on the other hand.."
"Bite me", Laura said. This was what they did sometimes. They'd bicker, but neither of them really meant it. They loved each other and they loved their family. They were Lannisters and proud of it.
Just then the door to the café opened and who else would enter but Robb Stark and Jon Snow.
Laura noticed them first, her mouth open in awe. Of all the places in the bloody huge city, they'd end up in the same cafeteria.
They had Robb's best friend, Theon Greyjoy, with them. That one was just a little piece of shit.
Laura kicked Rachel in the leg, making her look up from the book she'd been reading.
She blushed, for some reason. Rachel blushed, turning to look away. "We should go", she đã đưa ý kiến quietly while the boys stepped in line to get their coffees.
Laura chuckled. "You little shit. bạn like him. bạn think he's adorable. bạn want to shag him. bạn want to marry him and have hundreds of Stark em bé with him."
Rachel looked at Laura in boredom and then nodded. "You caught me. But not hundreds of Stark babies. Thousands and thousands, and they'd be Lannisters because we're the better family." She stood up from her ghế, chỗ ngồi with Laura following closely behind.
Rachel looked over to the queue where the boys were and hastily removed her glasses, putting them and the rest of her things in her bag. She didn't know why she was nervous. Perhaps because she'd hit him and she should apologize. hoặc because he was the bloody most flawless creature she'd ever laid her eyes on.
Laura on the other hand had not had a proper encounter with Jon as of yet, but she'd always been a little fascinated bởi him due to the things Tyrion had told her about him. And he'd told a lot. He had liked the Snow boy. And if Laura could actually meet him outside the restrictions of their families, she would like him, too.
Just as Laura and Rachel were ready to leave, Rachel was in her loveliest clumsy-mode and knocked over one of their coffee cups with her bag, crashing it down on the floor with a loud noise.
Not everyone turned to look at them, thankfully. That included the boys, except Theon, the little shit. He turned to look at them and then nudged his Những người bạn bởi the elbow and so they turned to look as well and then the Starks had noticed the Lannisters, twice in one day.
"You idiot. I don't want to get into a bar fight today", Laura groaned.
Rachel nodded, trying not to look too embarrassed as they sneaked their way out of the coffee shop.
They had managed to walk a few feet from the doorway when a familiar voice called them back:
"LANNISTER!"
It was Robb's voice, and both Laura and Rachel turned around to find the three blokes looking at them.
"What?" Laura asked, her eyes on Jon. "Ran out of chó con to kick?"
"I thought that was your family's style", Jon đã đưa ý kiến sharply.
"Oh, fuck off, are we really going to do this again?" Rachel asked. "Isn't once in a ngày enough?"
"You're the one who hit me", Robb said.
"Aye, you're right", Rachel đã đưa ý kiến reluctantly. "Can we, uh.. talk in private?" she gestured at Jon and Theon. She didn't want them hearing her lame apology.
Robb nodded in confusion and followed Rachel out of the crowd and into the nearest alleyway. It was merely a few feet away from the coffee shop.
Meanwhile Jon eyed Laura, wanting to think of something to say.
"Your niece, Myrcella, she's going to be playing Sansa's friend in the new play", he said. Theon sniggered at this. Not the best pick-up line, Jon had to admit himself.
Laura looked at him in amusement. "Yes, I heard. Sansa should consider herself lucky." Then she cursed herself for being so rude. Damn family manners.
"So, Stark", Rachel đã đưa ý kiến awkwardly, only now realizing that her hair looked absolutely dreadful in that stupid bun. But too late to change it now. "I'm sorry I hit you. bạn were being an arse and it was the only way I could think of to reply", she đã đưa ý kiến simply. "And bạn were being a cunt about my nephew, so-"
"Is this your way of apologizing?" Robb asked in confusion. "Calling me an arse and a cunt?" a small hint of a smile played across his lips.
Rachel snorted. "Well, I'm sorry, Stark, I should not have hit you. I need to remember that words can wound thêm than physical blows."
"That sounds like something Tywin Lannister would say", Robb said.
"Aye, well, he's my father, so..", Rachel shook her shoulders. "Everything bạn say sounds like something Ned Stark would say, so we're even."
Robb smiled a little.
"We good now, Stark? Can I go?"
"You're the one who called me here", Robb reminded her. "And I have a name. Robb."
"Robb", Rachel said, smiling a little. "Doesn't change the fact that you're a Stark and Starks are all the same."
"Fine", Robb replied. "I suppose I'll see bạn around, Lannister", with that he walked off.
"What is it with your family hating on mine?" Jon asked in exhaustion. "I get Joffrey, he's a kid, but your father is ancient, should he not get over this already?"
"Sure, as soon as your father gets over his grudges", Laura said.
"Don't bring my father into this", Jon đã đưa ý kiến sharply. He had always had an incredible amount of respect for his father.
"Your loyalty is amusing", Laura said, not really meaning what she was saying. She just wanted to hurt him with her words, just like Tywin had taught her. "Especially since you're not even a Stark."
At this Theon laughed in amusement, but Jon looked at her darkly.
"It's always nice to see bạn Lannisters. bạn are all the same after all", to this Laura had no time to reply when Robb walked back to them and the boys walked off, leaving Laura feeling a little guilty.
"I hate the Starks", Rachel đã đưa ý kiến as she walked back to Laura.
"Me, too."
Robb and Jon went trang chủ with a gloomy silence between them. This was not the first time there had been a clash between the Starks and the Lannisters, and quite often it did end in physical blows, but never before had Robb been attacked bởi a girl. Well, in that sense, anyway.
