Which character do bạn dislike/hate, but cannot help but respect?

bạn know there's gotta be somebody bạn may not like at all in the series, but bạn can't help but respect something about the character. What about the character do bạn grudgingly respect? It can be anything except physical appearance, because bạn can't really dislike someone but respect them just because they're 'hot' hoặc something. It's shallow and I won't accept it as a reason to respect them. But otherwise, it could be what they do for their comrades, their will to fight back and/or survive hoặc be free...anything, really.

I HATE Kagome (I'm sure you'll find my reasons around the spot somewhere), but I do respect the compassion she has for her friends. She always thinks of them first and does what she can for them. Soooooo I hate her, but kudos there, at least. XD; What about bạn guys?

She really does. =) I mean, yeah, she does cause problems for Kagome and InuYasha. But in that sense she creates angst in the story; without her InuYasha wouldn't be sacrificing anything to be with Kagome. They would just get together and live happily ever after. Which is nice, but...incredibly boring. Kikyo makes InuYasha and Kagome's relationship passionate and meaninful, and interesting. And on her own, Kikyo is powerful, compassionate for others and as bạn said, has an incredibly strong will.

I dislike Kikyo, but bạn have to respect her from all what she has been through. Imagine if all of that happened to you. I would probally be doing the same thing as Kikyo did. Poor Kikyo. That's what a lot of people don't consider, all that Kikyo went through. =/ They don't feel any compassion whatsoever. It's really sad. Good answer.
