chapter 3 is waiting for you:
As his daughter pulled him down the hallway, Hugh caught a glimpse of Lisa behind the almost closed door right tiếp theo to the master bedroom. He heard the baby cries subside and he noticed a small wooden sign engraved with ‘Nicholas’, hung on the door.

He had a feeling he knew, but he brushed it off in the process.
They reached the staircase and descended right into another, smaller, hallway that led to the kitchen.

The tile pattern resembled the one in the bathroom, but was a different color- pale gray. The counters were all white, just like in the bathroom, although they had little red handles that made the only contrast in the room. It was really nice. He felt a small hand guide him to the enormous fridge and realized just how zoned out he was at the time Elyon started giggling, demanding pancakes- again.
“Ok, ok… Dad’s gonna make bạn some…” he replied feeling weird for putting a ‘dad’ into the sentence. He flashed her a smile and she gladly returned one. Hugh remained stunned with the girl and figured he would really miss her once he woke up.
He opened the fridge and faced a huge amount of soya products- milk, tofu, even some soy sausages. Hugh knew it was all Lisa’s cause she was a vegan. However, there was a carton of regular milk, accompanied bởi other dairy products such as bơ and whipped cream. A huge sausage was placed on the hàng đầu, đầu trang shelf.
Hugh smirked. Of course he would never give up on meat. However, he faced the first problem. Did Elyon eat meat, hoặc did Lisa get her all used to vegan food?
How could he get an answer without him seeming disoriented and out of his ‘normal self’, which he truly was?
Luckily, the answer came to him bởi itself, as Elyon reached for the regular milk. He sighed of relief.
“So, what topping are we having today?” He smiled at her as she struggled to put sữa on the counter, right tiếp theo to the cooker, her little hands almost failing to reach the hàng đầu, đầu trang of it.
“Raspberries, as aaaaaaways daddy. You’re being silly.” Elyon giggled in the cutest way Hugh could have imagined. She seated herself on the chair tiếp theo to the small rectangle bàn in the corner of the kitchen, matching its surroundings.
Hugh got some eggs out of the fridge and just when he was to solve the mystery of hidden flour, he had no idea where it was placed, Elyon got up to help him, seeing he was a little bit out of it.
“Thanks” he managed to say as the little girl handed him a bucketful of flour, which was residing in the counter close to the sink.

Hearing a baby laugh, Hugh knew Lisa was coming with Nick.
Just when he was about to slam an egg, Lisa opened the phòng bếp, nhà bếp door with one hand, holding a somewhat one-year-old with another, the little boy residing on his mother’s hip.
For a một giây Hugh froze taking in the boys look. He was definitely his son. The little boy wriggled. He had the same piercing blue eyes as his big sister, as his father. His hair was lighter than Elyon’s, though. The boy was like a living replica of Hugh when he was the same age. Hugh immediately felt drawn to him.
“Nicky… I’m coming with your breakfast already…” Lisa smiled at the boy, who was wriggling restlessly in her arms.
“You spoiled him, honey… Just like you’ve spoiled all your children” she giggled at Hugh as she placed Nick to the baby-highchair, which Hugh hadn’t noticed before.
He continued making bánh xèo, bánh kếp for Elyon and himself as he watched Lisa take a box of cornflakes from the countertop and make their son cereal, with regular milk, which Hugh found a little bit odd, but he wasn’t going to câu hỏi her. He was glad she didn’t make them eat what she ate. However, if they decided to eat the way their mother ate in the future, he would be ok with it. It was their choice.
But again, he wouldn’t be around long enough to see that. It was a dream… how long could it last?
Hugh thought about it for a while. Why was he even having that dream? Why was Lisa in it?
Yes, he dreamed of her before… but those dreams were thêm of… explicit.
He blushed at the thought of them, hoping no one would notice.
But this… This he’d never dreamed of before, he never dreamed of having her as his wife, having kids with her… That was strange.
What was even stranger was how real everything seemed.
He could still feel his lips on hers, from the morning kiss, the light pressure Elyon’s little hand exaggerated on his as she pulled him down to the kitchen…
It was hard to separate yesterday’s ‘reality’ from it all when everything seemed so… real.
He finished making bánh xèo, bánh kếp and as Elyon took her plate to the table, Hugh followed her the way to it. Lisa was finishing feeding Nick and taking his, now empty, bowl to the sink, she spoke
“I’ll need to go to the groceries shop, we lack mushrooms and meat for the barbeque. I thought about calling Monica and Estelle back to work, to help me, but I would feel bad about it, so I’m going to do everything bởi myself…. bạn can handle the kids right?” she smiled at him.
Hugh had a forkful just outside his mouth and he nodded silently, still not sure what Lisa was telling him.
“You know… Give them a bath later, put Nicky to sleep hoặc to the play mat… Give Elyon some paper to draw if bạn have hard time handling them at the same time. Kids should come trang chủ soon, John is driving him from the LAX and they’ll probably want to sleep, so try to keep Elyon and Nick as quiet as possible. “Look at me, I’m lecturing bạn like you’ve never done it before”
Smiling at him, she left the kitchen, giving Nick a Kiss on the forehead on her way out. Hearing her dress up somewhere in the front hallway and almost slamming the door as she left, Hugh wished she knew just how wrong she was.
He looked outside the windows, examining the outdoors for the first time. The back yard was simply amazing… with a pool, garden chairs and bàn accompanied with a barbeque in the back. Three dogs, which Hugh knew were Lisa’s, were running playfully enjoying the sun and a cat, Bug, lay on one of the chairs, sleeping.
His son, slamming his small hands on the highchair, interrupted Hugh.
Hugh watched Elyon finish her bánh xèo, bánh kếp and putting all the dishes in the sink and washing them, he turned to the little boy as he reached out his little arms to him.
Hugh took him in his arms and the boy giggled happily.
‘Like you’ve never done it before’
Lisa’s words rung in his head.
Yeah, she had no idea how wrong she was.

“Daddy, I’m fine… I can get dressed bởi mysewf” Elyon smiled as Hugh struggled to get her out of the bath. Wrapping a towel around her small body, he figured he should have some fun time with her and threw her on her shoulder. Elyon screamed excitedly as Hugh carried her to her room.
