Shiva, like some other Hindu deities, is đã đưa ý kiến to have several incarnations, known as Avatars. Although Puranic scriptures contain occasional references to "ansh" avatars of Shiva, the idea is not universally accepted in Saivism.[171] The Linga Purana speaks of twenty-eight forms of Shiva which are sometimes seen as avatars.[172] In the Shiva Purana there is a distinctly Saivite version of a traditional Avatar myth:

Virabhadra who was born when Shiva grabbed a lock of his matted hair and dashed it to the ground. Virabhadra then destroyed Daksha's yajna (fire sacrifice) and severed his head as per Shiva's instructions.[173]
Bhairava, Bhairava (Sanskrit: भैरव, "Terrible" hoặc "Frightful",[1]), sometimes known as Bhairo hoặc Bhairon hoặc Bhairadya hoặc Bheruji (In Rajasthan), is the fierce manifestation of Shiva associated with annihilation.[2] He is one of the most important deities of Rajasthan and Nepal, sacred to Hindus and Buddhists alike. When depicted as Kala Bhairava, Bhairava is shown carrying the decapitated head of Brahma.

Sharabha, Shaiva scriptures narrate that god Shiva assumed the Avatar (incarnation) of Sharabha to tame Narasimha - the fierce man-lion Avatar of Vishnu worshipped bởi Vaishnava sect - into a normal pleasant form representing harmony. This form is popularly known as Sarabeshwara ("Lord Sarabha") hoặc Sharabeshwaramurti. In Buddhism, Sharabha appears in Jataka Tales as a trước đó birth of the Buddha.
Durvasa (दुर्वास in Devanagari hoặc durvāsa in IAST, pronounced [d̪urʋɑːsɐ] in classical Sanskrit), hoặc Durvasas, was an ancient sage, the son of Atri and Anasuya. He is supposed to be an incarnation of Shiva.[174][175][176][177][178] He is known for his short temper. Hence, wherever he went, he was received with great reverence from humans and Devas alike.[174]
Khandoba, a form of Shiva, mainly in the Deccan plateau of India, especially in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka. He is the most được ưa chuộng family deity in Maharashtra.
Adi Shankara, the 8th-century philosopher of non-dualist Vedanta "Advaita Vedanta", was named "Shankara" after Lord Shiva and is considered bởi some to have been an incarnation of Shiva.[179]
In the Hanuman Chalisa, Hanuman is identified as the eleventh Avatar of Shiva and this belief is universal. Mahabhagvata Purana, Skanda Purana. However, Hanuman knows as “Rudraavtaar” “Rudra” is name of “Shiva”[180] people believe that Hanuman is the incarnation of Shiva. The vanar(ancestors of humans)-god Hanuman who helped Rama – the Vishnu Avatar is considered bởi some to be the eleventh Avatar of Rudra (Shiva).[181][182]
In Dasam Granth, Guru Gobind Singh have mentioned two avtars of Rudra: Dattatreya Avtar and Parasnath Avtar.[183]
Harihara is the name of a combined deity form of both Vishnu (Hari) and Shiva (Hara) from the Hindu tradition. Also known as Shankaranarayana ("Shankara" is Shiva, and "Narayana" is Vishnu), Harihara is thus worshipped bởi both Vaishnavites and Shaivities as a form of the Supreme God, as well as being a figure of worship for other Hindu traditions in general. Harihara is also sometimes used as a philosophical term to denote the unity of Vishnu and Shiva as different aspects of the same Supreme God. The exact nature of both Vishnu and Shiva (from their associated stories in Vedic and Puranic scriptures), and their position of difference hoặc unity (or both), is a subject of some thảo luận amongst the different philosophical schools.

Indra is the king of the cosmic gods. One time, pride entered into him because, while he was supreme in Heaven, he began to neglect Prakriti, who is Mother-Earth. When he was cursed bởi Prakriti, Indra was so sad and depressed. He was literally sunk in despair. Who should come to him then but his own Guru, Brihaspati, who is the Guru of all the cosmic gods. Because Indra was so depressed, he did not hiển thị any...

I repeatedly offer my obeisances unto you, the controller of the thirty primal demigods; unto you, the original father of all created beings; unto you, whose character is gracious; unto you, whose head is crested bởi the sickle moon arisen from the waves of the Ganga and unto you, who are a festival for the eyes of the fair goddess Gauri

I offer my obeisances unto you, who are dressed in garments resembling molten gold, the moon, blue lotuses, coral, and dark rain clouds; unto you, who bestow the most desirable boons on your devotees bởi means of your delightful dancing; unto you, who are the...

At one time, pride entered into Brahma He said, “Since I am all fire, I can nuốt, nhạn everything. So now let me nuốt, nhạn everything and prove that I am the greatest of the cosmic gods. Who can dare to stand against me? I can eat fire! I am all fire! I am Brahma!”

When Vishnu saw the extent of Brahma’s pride, he took the form of a little boy, four hoặc five years old. This little boy came before Brahma holding a dry reed in his hand.

The little boy said, “Lord Brahma, bạn are the greatest of all the gods. Here is a dry reed. Let me see bạn burn it hoặc nuốt, nhạn it.”

One day, when Parvati was only eight years old, her father, Himavan, took her to see Lord Shiva. From birth, Parvati had always been very spiritual. She always wanted to know about God, so she was thrilled to see Lord Shiva. But Lord Shiva was in a meditative consciousness and he did not pay any attention to the little girl.

After that first encounter, Parvati used to come every ngày to see Lord Shiva. She would offer him fresh flowers, hoping that one ngày he would open his eyes and speak to her. In the back of her mind, she had formed the idea that this was the man she wanted to marry.

The days...

Nanda was the head of a community of cow-herders, and he settled in Vrindavana. The stories of Krishna's childhood and youth tell how he became a cow herder,[52] his mischievous pranks as Makhan Chor (butter thief), his foiling of attempts to take his life, and his role as a protector of the people of Brindavana.

Krishna killed the demoness like Putana, disguised as a wet nurse, sent bởi Kansa for Krishna's life. He tamed the serpent Kāliyā, who previously poisoned the waters of Yamuna river, thus leading to the death of the cowherds. In Hindu art, Krishna is often depicted dancing on the multi-hooded...

“Definitely I will take bạn there,” promised Shiva. So they went together to that particular grove. All the trees in that grove were so beautiful. Parvati was extremely moved bởi their beauty.
