Disney Things We’re Looking Forward to This Spring
Ah spring—a time of fancy, a time of flowers, and a time when Disney’s going to have so many exciting new things that we cannot wait to experience. We’ve complied some highlights here, because we’re impatient and want these things to happen ASAP, and talking about them makes them real in our minds. Okay? Okay.
On April 15 this live-action reimagining opens, featuring a dream cast of Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Bill Murray, and newcomer Neel Sethi (just to name a few). Directed by Jon Favreau, who also has Iron Man 1 & 2 under his belt, we have a feeling we’re going to get more than just the “Bare Necessities.”
This sequel to Tim Burton’s 2010 Alice in Wonderland is a twisted take on time that’s only made us curiouser and curiouser with each new trailer release. The cast of the first film returns with the addition of Sacha Baron Cohen playing the character of Time. Set your clocks for May 27!
The next installation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been long-awaited (but really, which Marvel film hasn’t been?). Not only do we see our beloved Avengers divided between #TeamCap and #TeamIronMan, but Black Panther and, yes, Spider-Man will both be making their MCU debuts in this film. May 6 can’t get here fast enough.
Rounding out the spring powerhouse of releases from the Walt Disney Studios is Disney•Pixar’s Finding Dory on June 17. This sequel to 2003’s Finding Nemo is sure to be unforgettable as we see our favorite blue tang just keep swimming in search of her parents.
For all your bracket predicting needs, Disney has you doubly covered. Park patrons can vote for their ride of choice with March Magic where the West and East coasts show down.
enthusiasts are forced between Light and Dark sides with This Is Madness, where only one character will rule them all.
The highly-anticipated Shanghai Disney Resort is scheduled to open on June 16, right at the end of spring and in time for summer. With what we know of the TRON Lightcycle Power Run, an entire land dedicated to Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Toy Story Hotel, we’ve already booked a plane to Shanghai.
Yoo-hoo, big spring blowout! Not only is Frozen Ever After opening at Epcot’s Norway Pavilion but we will be seeing the debut of “Frozen: Live at the Hyperion” at the Hyperion Theater in Disney California Adventure on May 27.
Disney Infinity will be welcoming Baloo and three new Marvel characters to the game just in time for the
Jungle Book and Captain America: Civil War theatrical releases. The game will also be getting a new Marvel Play Set; Marvel Battlegrounds.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens Releases on Digital and Blu-ray
We first felt the Force awaken in theaters on December 18 and we’ll be able to watch Episode VII on repeat this April. Own it early on Digital HD and Disney Movies April 1 or get the Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD April 5. These dates aren’t so far, far away so get ready to snap it up quickly.
Voting has already opened for the Radio Disney Music Awards here with 17 RDMA-zing categories to choose from. The actual awards show will be airing May 1 at 7 p.m. on Disney Channel and will feature performances by Ariana Grande and DNCE.
What are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments.
Take more than one day to see it all. Visit both parks and celebrate!
