Rumours regarding Devil May Cry 5 have been doing the rounds for quite a while now, and things escalated recently when well known voice actor Johnny Yong Bosch posted a picture of himself and Reuben Langdon sporting motion capture suits on Facebook. For those out of the loop, Bosch is the voice of Devil May Cry 4\'s Nero, while Langdon is responsible for bringing Dante to life. The two actors also provide the motion capture data for the aforementioned characters.

The picture has since been removed, but don\'t despair just yet. According to French website Gameblog.fr, independent sources have confirmed that Devil May Cry 5 is indeed in development, although the publication doesn\'t say much more than that.

If it all turns out to be true, then it\'s hard to say when Capcom will unleash an official announcement. Could Devil May Cry 5 take centre stage at E3 this year? It\'s impossible to tell at this point, but be sure to show off your crazy combos in the comments section below.

@Boerewors There is a 1080p remaster of Ninja Theory\'s DmC on PS4 and Xbox One which you can pick up real cheap now. If you haven\'t played it, I recommend it. Highly underrated game!

I have indeed played it and I gotta say I was impressed. I must admit I was one of those fools that didn\'t give it an honest chance the first time around and because of some performance issues I didn\'t acknowledge it as a true Devil May Cry. But on the PS4 this game really shines and when I played it like it was meant to be played, I had an excellent time. I still feel NT made some bad calls when it comes to the original, but having played both the DmC4 and DmC remaster I have to admit that DmC just holds up better.

I sold my Wii U, don\'t really regret it, but man, Bayonetta 2 was an absolute gem........it would be nice to have something of comparable quality on the PS4 (although as said, DMC isn\'t bad at all, just not as good).

We should be happy that Capcom is still doing AAA development for sure, some of the best IP\'s in the business,.....now here is hoping they don\'t screw it up, Resident Evil 6 and Street Fighter V have left some bitter aftertaste.

@Boerewors Yeah, it definitely wasn\'t perfect. And I can see what you mean about not taking to it the first time - I found the awful frame rate and dodgy textures on PS3 to be hard to stomach at times. But you\'re right, on PS4 it really comes into its own. I think Ninja Theory are an incredibly underappreciated development team.

They are indeed, it\'s just that awful Tameem Antoniades who makes every DMC fan hate them. What he did is the same as Messi disrespecting Johan Cruijff and calling him a has been; although Messi is a football God for the last 10 years, this doesn\'t mean Cruijff wasn\'t at some point. And I do hope that Capcom understands that 60fps is key, that\'s what you start working from and that\'s where you end with.

I wouldn\'t be surprised if Ninja Theory would helm this iteration of DMC because I\'m getting the feeling their own game isn\'t really coming together. They might put that on hold and start working on DmC instead. It\'s so hard for these smaller studios to create a new succesful IP these days, especially when you want to give it a triple A feel. Gamers hold on to sequels and starting a franchise for a smaller studio seems almost impossible in this climate, so NT could choose for the safety of a well established brand.

I\'m really curious if people are still interested in DMC, I wonder how those remasters sold. Although Platinum Games is doing great, Bayonetta 2 sold way less than I\'ve expected, even taking into account it\'s on the Wii U. I honestly think that if Bayonetta 2 launched in the days when DMC was most popular, fans would\'ve bought a console just to play it, but I\'m getting the feeling that that just isn\'t the case anymore; it\'s as if we shifted from DMC to Souls in terms of hardcore fans.

You know what, I actually wouldn\'t mind! I think releasing games in episodes is a really smart way to get a game out and to keep the gamers interested and invested in it. The treshold of entering is also lowered so if a gamer doesn\'t like the first part, s/he nows the rest can be skipped. It would be better for developers as well and we would see less layoffs because there\'s work all year round, there will be a more evenly distributed cash flow and DLC and season passes would be history. Not every game will lend itself to an episodical release, but I certainly think DMC does.

I would rather not see an episodic release, just give me the finished product up front. I don\'t watch a movie 30 minutes at a time once every two months.

Will be interesting to see which company got the exclusive on this one.

I don\'t know if we want Ninja Theory at the helm. I like that company but look how long it\'s taking to get Hellblade out, there still isn\'t an official release date. I\'d like to play DMC sometime in the next year, two at most. Not 5 or 7.

This is a bit off-topic, but I\'m absolutely positive that Hellblade is taking so long because of Antoniades and his megalomaniac vision of how the game should be. When he was describing what the game will be I knew immediately it was bound to get delayed and when it sees the light of day it will be totally different from what he imagined, IF it ever sees the light of day that is. Antoniades is one of those people that surrounds him with "yes-men" and starts believing in his own delusional ideas, which is a shame because he is extremely talented. He is very much Ninja Theory\'s Molyneux and I think Molyneux could succeed back then because times were different and games were way cheaper to make, but now it\'s almost impossible for a small studio to deliver what Antoniades wants.

I do think a NT DMC 5 could be cool, because then they have to answer to Capcom. They\'ll be able to display some of their wild ideas and creativity, but when they push it Capcom will put em in place.

Would be awesome. It\'s about time we got a new DMC.

@sub12 please don\'t compare Resident Evil 6 to Street Fighter 5 ;_; I mean, SF5 is a GOOD game with a messed up launch, RE6 is just terrible XD

Bayonetta 2 is beyond amazing and I hope they\'ll have Platinum for DMC5! It makes sense given the history of the brand...but I feel like Kamiya and Capcom are not on good terms.

SFV is a great game that was released incomplete, and probably the most disappointing title of this gen for me (thus far). I\'m sure it will be a different story in a year from now, but no excuses. It\'s still another story of Capcom damaging the name of one of it\'s most cherished IP\'s.

Agree that Bayo 2 was amazing, it\'s a shame though, I think it could have been given a lot more love on the Xbox One and PS4, but alas, we should thank Nintendo for footing the bill (at least it was made, and Bayo is a good fit for the Nintendo portfolio, which lacks mature titles).

As far as Platinum and Capcom, yeah, I think they probably still have some bad blood.

Loved Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2, loved DMC, and I\'m all over this.

Bayonetta 2 has crossed 1 million sold now, which is a lot of games sold for a system that barely has 13 million owners. And they just re-released it as a $30 release without the first game packaged in, so I figure it\'ll round off the generation at around 1.5 mil. I can\'t imagine it would have done too much better than that elsewhere. The game that needed more love was Wonderful 101- that game was dang near just as brilliant as Bayonetta 2.

I tried the remastered DmC on the ps4, completely hated it. Will be skipping anything else in this series.

I\'m pleased to hear that it sold over a million!, that\'s great news, hopefully Nintendo is smart enough to make a deal with Platinum and lock down that IP. TW101 was a really charismatic and unique title, my only gripe was that the level design suffered a bit in the second half of the game (the first few stages in the city were amazing).

About time! I\'ve been waiting for a new one in the series, and can\'t wait to play a new one after currently finishing DMC all over again on the PS4. I honestly wish that Dante\'s Inferno would be re-released in HD for PS4 too, or at least a new one in the chapter, but I doubt that will ever happen...game reminded me of DMC and God Of War combined into one, and wasn\'t that bad of a title to own.

There have been developers who have made fun of vgc numbers, npd always shows that many titles are overtracked or undertracked even by hundreds of thousands, and Bayonetta was one of those whose first month sales were massively overtracked by vgc as shown in the npd report.

Feel free to believe what you want, but unless Ninty or any other developer states they\'ve sold x number of copies, don\'t state it as if it were fact. A simple "if vgc numbers are correct, Bayonetta 2 has actually sold over 1m copies, so it seems to have done well" would have been better and you\'d avoid possibly spreading misinformation.

But, obviously, you can do whatever you want. This is last reply on this topic.

You seem like you really want to make an argument the game didn\'t do that well.

Unless you can show actual evidence that VGchartz has ever, even once, over-represented actual sales numbers by a substantial margin, then what you say can\'t really be trusted.

The fact is sales are almost always under tracked and hardly ever over-tracked- because a sale doesn\'t register as a sale unless, you know, it\'s an actual sale. So the best approach is check all sources and go with the highest tracked number. And even then it\'s probably less than the real total. But not over. Whichever source shows less is most likely under-tracking- they don\'t just make sales up out of thin air.

Vgc changes its numbers all the time after NPD reports are released. If that doesn\'t tell you what the more trustworthy source is, I don\'t know what will. Look at the sample and the methodology each tracker uses. You know what Sony, MS, and Ninty use? NPD, not VGC. We projected Europe would be ~20% higher than America given the larger install base and based on previous game releases, but it turned out at 430k for the week vs 510k for America - whereas we estimated it at more like 600k given America and Japan figures."

Firstly, Walton freely admits the numbers were based on zero actual data for the entire European market, just pure extrapolation. It\'s also very unclear how far the estimates for launch were based on real retail data for Japan and North America.

It\'s a reasonable figure, of course, because the VGChartz folks are smart people. But it\'s not a real figure. It\'s a educated guesstimate, and it\'s much more of an estimate than the subsequent Chart Track data for the UK, for example."

3. "Sony just announced they have sold 38.1 million PS3\'s worldwide since launch but VGChartz lists PS3 sales at only 36.1 million. That is a two million unit discrepancy."

4. "For what i read it\'s more accurate if you choose a random number. That is what an Atlus staff member said in their forums."

Your hypothesis about assuming that all games are undertracked is not only extremely flawed but has been proven wrong.

There have been similar problems with many other games, especially Gran Turismo games. They also tend to overtrack niche games.

Please tell me how that crow tastes. Better yet. Don\'t. Instead of copying what I say, try to do some research before you make claims and accusations. I had no issue with Bayonneta selling as you somehow imagined. I simply stated that you can\'t treat vgc as an official source. Their numbers are estimates, and currently advertised as such.

Every single one of those examples show that they are under tracked rather than over tracked by a significant margin, with the exception of Atlus Sphere which I\'ll concede to you on that.

But even then it\'s close enough. It\'s not wildly off by 800,000 copies or anything. All I\'m looking at here is for an estimated number of how well a game did, and even that example does not equate to definitive proof that the numbers are that off with Bayonetta 2.

So instead of correcting me on how I should have rather said "If these numbers are correct" you instead should have said "POTENTIALLY spreading misinformation", because frankly you don\'t know.

Right now it\'s the best information we have to go on so that\'s what I\'m going on. Now, if you would like to dig up more accurate sales that proves it wrong then by all means do so but until you do that please don\'t lecture me on using the only data available, and for something that doesn\'t even really matter at that.

***Given their method of estimating sales is using smaller retail sample pools and doing the math for a larger estimate, naturally a margin of error should be allowed. But the method seems to proves generally accurate, and aside from a few extreme examples you would have to dig through the Internet to scrounge up, my guess is their numbers are pretty close to accurate ,ore times than not. Certainly accurate enough for an estimate to go on with no other sales numbers are provided.

And it\'s not so much that I won\'t listen to reason, it\'s that you pissed me off by going out of your way to try to disapprove sales numbers when you have no sales numbers of your own to disprove them with. You gave me a lecture on how I\'m spreading misinformation but you have no definitive proof of your own to back that up with.

It would be one thing to bring up the credibility of their methods used for the estimates, which would lend credence to an argument made that the numbers might not be close to accurate (MIGHT not), but it\'s another to make it your personal mission to lecture me on spreading misinformation when you can\'t even say for sure whether it\'s wrong.

Don\'t be so quick to dismiss this method of estimates. Is the same principle as with political polls- a smaller sample size representative of a larger group. Is it always going to be accurate? No. Is there going to be a margin of error? Of course. But to pretend that it holds no weight whatsoever, or to pretend that it is not even remotely representative of total sales in most cases is... well, let\'s just say it\'s unwise

You started off super defensive, asking me to use google, which I then did. I never said I had the numbers, only that vgc cannot be trusted unless a company makes an official report and vgc adjusts its numbers.

I appreciate the link but I really don\'t care that much one way or the other. It was just an offhand comment made about a topic brought up in conversation. I\'ve got a pretty good idea of how well it sold based on the estimates and that\'s all I need. I\'ll certainly appreciate officially announced numbers if we ever get any, but it really isn\'t that important to me.

Btw, you may want to edit out that link because that discussion is now one year old. That was back when VGchatz still had to game listed at 680,000. I\'m sure there are more current discussions going on out there but I think that one the topic was locked a while back
