LIKE SANDS THROUGH THE HOURGLASS….
LA-LA LAND RECORDS PRESENTS THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK FOR DAYS OF OUR LIVES

Two-CD Set Marks The World Premiere of Original Score Music
Composed and Performed By Ken Corday And D. Brent Nelson

(February 4, 2010- Burbank, CA) – La-La Land Records will be releasing the soundtrack for the long-running NBC soap opera, Days of our Lives. The 2CD-set features original score composed by Ken Corday and D. Brent Nelson. The set will be available in-stores and via their website www.lalalandrecords.com on February 23, 2010.

“The music for Days of our Lives is like the frame that enhances a great piece of art,” said Executive Producer and co-composer Ken Corday.

"Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our Lives." For almost one-half of a century, those words have introduced and underscored one of daytime drama's rare mainstays. NBC's Days of our Lives, which turned 44 this past November, first premiered as a half-hour drama in 1965 and expanded to an hour 10 years later. Today, it remains a consistent favorite among viewers of daytime television serials.

In its 44 years, Days of our Lives has garnered numerous Emmy Awards and nominations, as well as multiple "Soap Opera Digest" and "People's Choice" Awards. The show's success derives from its consistent commitment to excellence in writing and storytelling - supported by a diverse ensemble of performers - and an uncanny knack for anticipating viewer interests. From demonic possessions and serial killers to genre traditions such as baby switches, amnesia and classic love triangles, Days of our Lives remains a perennial favorite among viewers of all ages.

The signature sound for the show is created by Executive Producer Ken Corday and composer D. Brent Nelson. The two work with different palates. “On the one hand, you have lush piano and orchestral sensibility, creating chord structures and floating melodies, and on the other you have the rush of the sequencing and the grit of the electric guitar combined with the dark synth passages,” describes album sequencer Ric Kohlbeck. He adds, “Together these two crafted composers have created a score that is at once memorable and beautiful to downright terrifying and hauntingly emotional. You will be immersed in this magnificent effort.”

It has been 10 years since the composers have put together a collection of themes from the show. “Being the prolific composers that Ken and I are, we found ourselves faced with 3,500 pieces of music to choose from; just a slightly daunting task to say the least,” said D. Brent Nelson.

To address this, the original soundtrack is split into 2 discs, the first contains the prettier, more melodic and romantic cues and the second disc the more action-oriented, pulse-pounding themes. Storylines with music featured in the package include The Salem Stalker, Princess Gina, Patch’s theme, various themes from the romance of John & Marlena, the recent Colleen and Santo storyline, Sami’s Revenge/Stan, and the Lethal Injection of Stefano DiMera.

Days of our Lives is produced by Corday Productions Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television. Executive producer Ken Corday is following in the tradition of his parents, Betty and Ted Corday, who co-created Days of our Lives and helmed the series for many years. Gary Tomlin is also executive producer. Dena Higley is the headwriter. The Days of our Lives original soundtrack will be available at www.lalalandrecords.com and in stores on February 23, 2010.
