I prefer the books. Basically, the characters are pretty much the same, though not in appearance, and the plot is different. The "main" parts of the plot are still in there, though...Mostly. You probably would need to read the books to understand what I mean.

I think it's ridiculous how they are calling our entire ship crazy simply because of the actions of a few shippers. Every ship has immature shippers, not just ours! Those few people do not speak for the entirety of the ship.
