Critical Analysis of Twilight Câu Hỏi

Is anyone bothered bởi Twilight vampires' physical appearances?

I'm not. I find most of them agreeable despite how they appear, but some people seem to have an issue with the fact that every vampire in the Twilight saga is basically a supermodel (or close to...). There are no fat vampires, there are no crazy ones (well, except for newborns), etc. bạn get the picture. I'm puzzled about one thing though: if an overweight human is changed into a vampire, do they automatically lose weight until they reach a healthy size? Anyways...I do know that in Steph Meyer's Twilight novels, all the ma cà rồng are gorgeous to an otherworldly extent in order to attract their food, that is if they don't follow the Cullen's "vegetarian" diet; that's a substantial reason for me...is it good enough for you? What's your take on it? (PLEASE be respectful. I've had enough of the fanpop drama.)

There has actually been some talks about this. I'm a little bothered because as bạn said, they turn into supermodels, but standards of what's beautiful change. 500 years ago, a pale fat person was considered beautiful (it had to do with being able to aford thực phẩm and not working in the sun) so would she stay fat in today's world, hoặc would she change to fit the norm of "beauty"? And what about different parts of the world? Parts where tatood faces are considered beautiful but in other parts are considered ugly?

Yeah, it bothers me that the standard of beauty only seems to fit modern American ideals.

You're very correct about that, November99; "beauty is in the eye of the beholder.." ergo it is quite subjective. I wish the beauty portrayed in Twilight did have thêm of a balance to it. Still, I'll give Stephenie Meyer the benefit of the doubt because it is her book series; she is entitled to push her own opinions in there somewhere.Perhaps her idea of beauty is solely modern. I think your answer is well thought out :)

KissOfDoom: I don't think that's unreasonable. She liked the idea of them being beautiful in order to attract humans. She couldn't make them beautiful bởi everyone's standards, so she made them beautiful bởi her own standards :)

^Sure, but it's a plot hole. A big one actually.

Not really. It's been a part of vampire lore that they're gorgeous, skinny, and (more often than not) pale -- especially in literature. Elizabeth, Dracula, Lestat, Angel. All the way from Buffy to the Morganville Vampires, The vamps in Vampire Academy to School of Night, Dracula to Interview with a vampire have all been attractive and most have been pale.

Dracula was not gorgeous.

Yeah, he was. His only unattractive feature was having hair on his palms, which hardly makes his entire visage unappealing.

I actually am, a little. Just the fact that I tình yêu orginals, and the orginal vampires...
Well, Dracula had hair on his palms.
So, the fact that everyone is now making ma cà rồng out to be sexy is just odd to me. I may be in the minority, but remakes are never as good!
