Jessica Dowdeswell recently found time for a quick interview:
Tell us about your role in the classic noir stylized film “Los Angeles Overnight.”
Jessica: My character, Stacey Navel, in “Los Angeles Overnight” is a seemingly sweet girl but is really a devious one. It was a very different character for me, I got to be a bad guy essentially. I am the worst girlfriend ever. It was such a blast playing a character that is so deceptive.
What’s the biggest lesson bạn learned from working on this project?
Jessica: The biggest lesson I learned from working on this project is to not give up hoặc think bạn failed. I originally tried out for a different part but I ended up playing Stacy which they rewrote specifically for me after my audition.
You’re set to appear in the upcoming dramatic indie “Lemon Drop,” correct?
Jessica: Yes, that is correct.
Any interesting stories from the set bạn can share with us?
Jessica: I hope this isn't a "you had to be there" type of story, but when bạn watch the film bạn may notice a giant stuffed trái chuối, chuối in a tuxedo. It was meant for one quick scene, but he very quickly became like a mascot. He got taken everywhere, so the trái chuối, chuối is in a lot of unexpected places throughout the film.
We hear tiếp theo you’ll be working alongside Priscilla Presley in the sci-fi film “Almythea Episode II: Rise of the Astra”; what can bạn share about that project?
Jessica: This project is the first of a series of three sci-fi thriller films. I portray a creature called a ‘fleaf’ which is like a pixie and they act as messengers and spies in the film. My character, Scootch, is a trainee. "I'm not saying bạn are stupid, I just đã đưa ý kiến that bạn have bad luck when you're thinking" is what another character says to her, so she is definitely not the brightest little creature. Priscilla’s character is the Keeper of the Fleafs and is very sweet.
Are bạn doing anything specific to prepare for the role?
Jessical: Working on being really ditzy- just kidding. I am actually working on my voice-over skills because there will be a lot of moments in the film where bạn hear me and don't see me. It is important to get emotion through just voice, so I am in a voice-over class right now.
It appears that bạn haven’t skipped a beat since making your way to America; what’s the biggest difference working here now?
Jessica: There isn't really a big difference, yet. It's still working hard, creating opportunities, and working on my craft. I guess the biggest difference is now that I have been in LA a while, I have local friends. That makes a big difference in all aspects of your life because having people to share your stories and go on adventures with is what life is about.
And, now just for fun:
Who’s your yêu thích actor/actress?
Jessica: Audrey Hepburn, I have loved her since I was like 6.
What role from the past do bạn wish bạn could have played?
Jessica: The ramen Girl
Favorite movie hoặc TV hiển thị from your childhood.
Jessica: A TV hiển thị called “Genie from Down Under” -- no one is going to know this show…LOL
