Hi everyone! Hi everyone! It's been a while. So, I saw Aladdin và cây đèn thần a tháng ago. Anyways, seeing the discussion about the actress chosen to play Ariel lead me to think that I could share my thoughts on Naomi Scott who was casted as Jasmine. I think Disney missed out on representing women who actually look like Jasmine, with her large nose and tan skin, something that's already considered an imperfection in the cultures that Disney referenced in Aladdin. Let me explain further. (1/?) đã đăng cách đây 15 ngày

Having a deep tan myself, I have personal experience with colourism in the Persian community. It was thêm subtle, in ways that I would get encouraged to wear thêm sunscreen, and old women would say that my only flaw was my skin. I couldn't help but notice how the light-skinned women in my family were complimented for just that. (2/?) cách đây 15 ngày

It hurt, because I was very pale as a child and my skin just naturally got darker as I aged. I never truly detested the way I looked hoặc lacked outward confidence but a small part of me would have chosen to look paler, and I was mad that I didn't have a choice in regards to my complexion. The one woman that was (sort of?) from my culture in the media, and looked like me that wasn't Hispanic, was Jasmine. And she was considered gorgeous in Aladdin. Nobody cared when I was young and innocent, but the older I got the thêm people took notice of my complexion. (3/?) cách đây 15 ngày

I’m a single-parent kid and I’m proud! Put that on a t-shirt. No matter how many times tv shows and phim chiếu rạp try to portray kids of divorce as broken and depressed, I will never be defeated. đã đăng cách đây 2 tháng
