Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
There Are More Salvatores! The Vampire Diaries – Season 6 Episode 4 – “Black Hole Sun”
Answers!  New story lines!  The 90’s!  All that and more are gifted to us Vampire Diaries viewers in this week’s episode, “Black Hole Sun” (the title in itself is a 90’s reference.  Soundgarden, anyone?).
The show’s writers are certainly sticking true to the 90’s plot line.  In this episode Bonnie wears an unfortunate pair of overalls, however, Damon wears a flannel shirt which is mostly unbuttoned… I don’t hate this.
Back to the episode: In order for Bonnie, Damon, and their new pal Kai to get out of reliving May 10, 1994 and back to their friends, they need to perform a spell during the eclipse.
Kai coaxes Damon into telling them both about what he was doing on that day in 1994, and it’s not much of a bedtime story per say.
Damon has flashbacks to May 10, 1994.  We learn that he drops by the Salvatore mansion to see Stefan, who he hasn’t seen in years.  He meets their Uncle Zack for the first time, who owns the property.  Zach has a wife, Gale, who’s pregnant.  After Damon convinces Stefan that he was to become a reformed vampire, Stefan lets him stay on the condition that he doesn’t even think about feeding on Gale.
Not to my surprise, Damon not only feeds on Gale but kills her.  Fifteen years later, he kills Zack so he doesn’t have to be reminded of what he did.
After trying to convince Stefan to stay in Mystic Falls, Stefan invites her over to Savannah so he can prove to her that he’s happier there on his own.  Minutes later they are in Savannah, and as viewers we are forced to believe–for the purposes of a 45-minute television show–that Georgia is just a two-second motorcycle ride from Virginia.
The two go to a local bar and chat.  To show her how much nicer it is to pretend to live a human life with another identity, Stefan fake-proposes to Elena in the bar, causing a spectacle.  She plays along by announcing that she’s pregnant.  The bar patrons clap and cheer.  It’s weird.
After seeing how “fun” it is for Stefan to be on his own in Savannah, Elena exits the bar.  After she’s gone Stefan picks a fight with a guy at the bar and lets him beat him to a pulp because… who knows.  Elena stops it when she returns to the bar to get the “jacket” she forgot.
Elena gives Stefan a firm talking to about his new habits.  Feeling resentful toward her because she took the easy way out with dealing with Damon being gone, Stefan tells her the truth about her feelings for him and the fact that she had her memories wiped.
I didn’t think it would take very long for someone to spill the beans to the girl, but I didn’t think it’d be Stefan.
in Mystic Falls are searching for Sarah, who’s compulsion went away when she crossed the town line (aka she knows about vampires).
Jeremy’s efforts are lacking due to the fact that despite Alaric’s efforts, he is not keen on sobering up.  I think I speak for most viewers when I say it’s time for Jeremy to stop being all “boo-hoo-woe-is-me” all the time.  Self-pity is not becoming of you, Jeremy.
Matt, on the other hand, tries his luck with Mr. Founding Family Member Fell.  When Matt pretends not to know what happened to his friend, Fell teaches him about vampires and takes him to his secret storage room where he’s keeping Enzo locked in chains.  Turns out a vampire killed his wife way back when, so he now dedicates himself to slaughtering them.  Lovely.
Jeremy of all people stumbles upon Sarah when he gets back to the house.  She shows him the only picture she has of her mother, who–wait for it–is GALE.  Sarah is a Salvatore.  Whoa.
Bonnie takes a closer look at one of the stories in the May 10, 1994 newspaper which mentions the gruesome deaths of a family of four in Oregon.  Hmm… didn’t Kai mention he had a lot of brothers in sisters that died in Oregon?
Kai then rather casually informs Damon and Bonnie that he murdered his entire coven and how he murdered them, as if he was listing off items on his grocery list.
Turns out the reason he’s there with Bonnie and Damon is because he was banished there by the Gemini Coven after slaughtering his own.  He can’t do magic, but by touching Bonnie’s arm he can absorb hers temporarily.  If Bonnie and Damon don’t agree to help him get out, he’ll consume all of her magic, kill them both, and leave 1994 without them.
A couple of minor things to keep in mind from this episode for next week:
Stefan’s girlfriend isn’t dead.  She shows up at the end of the episode as a vampire in transition and tells Stefan that Enzo made her drink his blood at the dinner.
Elena doesn’t choose to get her Damon memories back, but instead has Alaric hang on to a letter she wrote to herself before her memories were wiped in case someone told her the truth.
