Although we all knew she had to die I think it was stupid that george lucas killed off the female lead by having her lose the will to live. She's Padme Amidala I'm sure she wouldn't just lose the will to live she has two kids now and that seems like a pretty good reason to stay even if her husband has gone to the dark side.
