How do your life experiences effect your view of The Phantom of the Opera?

When I was 12 my parents got divorced. I had a quite bad relationship with my dad and we still can't get on well with. The following years I experienced a lot of bad things in my life (including death in the family). For almost 7 years in my life I have never had longer friendship with the kids of my age (mainly because of my appearance). I suffered from many kind of cruelty from my classmates.
