New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Clip Reveals Simon Pegg’s Character, Spotlight on Rey
A new Disney Channel promo for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” gives us our first live-action glimpse at Simon Pegg in the film, and some additional insight into Daisy Ridley’s scavenger character, Rey.
Here’s our first good look at Simon Pegg’s costumed character in the film, next to director J.J. Abrams and Ridley:
Abrams, who worked with Pegg on “Mission: Impossible III” and “Star Trek,” previously had this to say about Pegg’s role during “The Force Awakens”: “He was a sounding board. He would drop by the set because he wanted to, and when he could, he would help… We could talk about things, and he was a perfect combination of incredibly smart screenwriter, fan of the series, critical fan of the series, and friend of mine – but not just blindly supportive. He was an honest, critical friend. And he wasn’t so close to it that he became immune to things. He would come in with fresh eyes and very smart ideas. He’s one of a handful of people along the way that has been really priceless.”
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” hits theatres December 18.

I didn’t see Simon Pegg’s character. Is he BB-8? Or that fat alien?
This movie looks like a bag of nostalgia filled with turds.
I like the future riding lawnmower that Rey rides on. It shows us a vision that in the future women are seen as equal. The entire movie take the great old ideas and mixes them with half baked modern video game crap.
I’m worried. Visually it looks great but they said they want to “go in a new direction.” And after the new actors all said they don’t like the original star wars movies. I think it’ll look great but that’s about it. We’ll see in December.
I really really loved Shaun of the Dead but I can’t say i am a fan of Pegg’s other work. i actually liked the last couple Mission Imp movies but not because of anything he did. His Scotty character is the absolute worst part of the lame Star Trek movies.
Agreed. I know nerd culture is big right now, but I don’t like actors who themselves are massive nerds ala Pegg. Give me cool Harrison Ford/Bogart types over dweebs like Kevin Smith and Pegg.
Movie takes place a long time ago in galaxy fa, far away not in the future.
I’m gonna need to see your source to believe that.
The actors didn’t say they didn’t like the original movies. That’s a flat out lie. They said they saw the prequels before the originals, but that’s simply because they’re millennials, not because they like the prequels more, or god forbid that they don’t like the originals. John Boyega even said he liked the originals more.
And I like the fact that they went in a “new direction”. You know what direction they deviated from? George Lucas’ ideas for the third trilogy. You know what those were? Child actors, child target audiences. No thank you.
