Selena Gomez reveals that her school days weren’t her best days.
The former Wizards of Waverly Place actress admits that before all the fame and success, she wasn’t as confident at school and she wasn't one of the được ưa chuộng girls.
“I was never the được ưa chuộng kid at school. I had two friends, but I just sat at the back of the room and got on with my work,” she said, according to The Daily Mail. “School is such an awkward time in your life. I was never confident in school.”
She says since she didn’t have a lot of confidence, she had a hard time talking to guys she liked.
"I never went out with guys at school. I had a crush on a guy, but I never told him about it. I did the thing that a lot of girls do: I avoided him!” she said. “You need that self confidence if bạn want to chat to the guy bạn like. If you’re confident with yourself, and you’re okay with that, then bạn should go for it.”
She says although she wasn’t popular, she says she wasn’t picked on too much. Her cousin was a cheerleader.
“Nobody picked on me because my cousin was one of the được ưa chuộng gang,” she continued. “She was always very protective of me, so I guess I was very lucky.”
Now, the 19-year-old singer and actress has become part of an entirely different world than her school days. Gaining confidence in herself, she’s now part of the được ưa chuộng group, in a way, and dating one of the biggest young stars, Justin Bieber. She says although she gets thêm criticism and thêm people trying to bring her down, she loves what she does, so that is enough to keep her going.
“People [are] trying to bring me down, but I'm happy because I tình yêu what I do. Ignore the cruel jibes and stick with the nice people," she said. "I'm lucky because I have a lot of support from my family and friends. I have so many amazing things in my life."
"I have a healthy, loving family and I have amazing fans." She added, "That's all that matters to me. I try my best to not dwell on the bad stuff. Focus on the positive."
