Jerry Seinfeld Turned Down Offer to Do Live Seinfeld Revival Episode 

inspired Jerry Seinfeld to revive his eponymous ’90s sitcom? The short answer: “No!” — not that there’s anything wrong with that.

In a new interview, the comedian revealed that he has previously turned down an offer to bring back

 for a live episode that would have reunited the self-involved foursome of Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer.

. When asked if he considered it, his answer was simply “No!” Seinfeld was most recently reunited with the entire cast — including Julia Louis Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards — in Season 7 of

Seinfeld stopped short of denying a small-screen comeback, hinting that his long-running Crackle program 

— which was recently nominated for an Emmy in the outstanding variety talk series category — might soon turn up on cable with additional, never-before-seen footage.

“We’re actually talking with some other platforms now about releasing the show in other forms with different material. … We’re talking to television and cable and streaming [outlets], and so there are a variety of forms that this show might take. Nothing is set yet. It’s just conversations now, but there’s been a lot of interest.”

He has syndication money, Seinfeld could pay everyone else in gold.

It will never happen. Part of the reason is because very few shows even get decent ratings these days, let alone good. Secondly, the show is remembered so fondly (outside of the finale) that it will be near impossible to duplicate that response, but easy to get panned on Twitter.

Laugh-track, multi-camera comedy isn’t exactly embraced these days, so even the show that did it better than anyone would be at risk with a reunion episode.

Lastly, this is an answer many have given about this topic, but they’re all old now, why would you want to see that? Yes, Kramer needing a walker to get around would be comedic gold, but you don’t want to remember them that way.

Michael Richards is 67. I’m guessing he doesn’t use a walker.

Reunion shows never work. That was part of the joke in the Curb story arc. They are always disappointing.

It just wouldn’t make sense to do a reunion. Why would a bunch of 50 year olds still be living in the same apartments living the same lifestyle? Same issue with a Friends reunion. The shows captured a time in their lives. We all change.

Everyone wants it so bad. Just give the people what they want, Jerry!

They should do what the makers of Breaking Bad did… have a spinoff of it made, instead of just trying to bring back the good old days. But Jerry wouldn’t even be interested in that. Or, wait… it wouldn’t have to have him if it were like that.

But I guess the spin offs have been tried.
