I need some Lời khuyên please? :)

So at school, every năm bạn make a dance group to participate in a competition. If bạn win the competition, bạn and your group compete with people from other years. So I was making my group with some Những người bạn but I left it because I want to win, but they don't really give a crap about the competition so I don't wanna work with people like that so they are now angry with me, I really don't know why. I tried to explain that I wanted them to do the best, they just don't want to but they are still mad at me.
Is that okay? am I wrong? hoặc they are wrong? HELP :)
