In fact, I believe there were as high number of actions films released back then as they are now. Among the type of action films that flourished during that era were swashbucklers.

One of the most famous Hollywood swashbucklers released during the 1930s was "THE PRISONER OF ZENDA", producer David O. Selznick's 1937 adaptation of Anthony Hope's 1894 novel. This tale of middle European political intrigue and identity...

Ross is deeply disappointed bởi ELizabeth’s decision to go on with the marriage and he tries to forget her with other women and of course a lot of drinking. I did like the scene with the sex worker, where she seems to be a little bit in tình yêu with Ross. She was such a nice lady and so sweet especially when she was advicing Ross to find a woman to tình yêu and care, although that would mean she would lose him, because that is the type of man he is! link

It seems that Leo Tolstoy’s War & Peace («Война и миръ», Voyna i mir) novel is like the holy grail of every director who respects himself. It has been adapted for film, TV, opera, radio. imdb danh sách 9 War and Peace adaptations including 2 silent films. The novel was first published in 1869. The work is epic in scale and is regarded as one of the most important works of world literature. It is considered Tolstoy’s finest literary achievement, along with his other major prose work Anna Karenina (1873–1877).

I am ashamed to say that I have yet to read this one, mainly because...
