Maud cares enough to at least try to get along with the mane 6, and tried to spare Pinkie's feelings when it didn't work out. She cares about Pinkie enough to, quoting Twilight, "Move mountains for her." And enough to keep all of Pinkie's necklaces even though she doesn't like candy. Maud is a nice pony, she just doesn't express it the way Pinkie does.
And for your question(I forgot about it xD), that's a stereotypical thing. Not all sound like that.

Yeah, she sounded like a goth a little bit. But I still like her. She's very much like my main OC Nocturnal Mirage: a Nữ hoàng băng giá river. Looks calm and dull on the surface, but the water (the emotions) still rumbles deep down with great power. :)
