My Chemical Romance Tease 10th Anniversary of ‘The Black Parade’ Album [Update]
What is going on with the supposedly defunct band My Chemical Romance? The band has revamped their website and social media and offered up a cryptic new video (seen above) which hints at something coming on Sept. 23 of this year.
As can be heard in the clip, the familiar piano strains of the song “Welcome to the Black Parade” soundtrack the video, which features a white flag with the letter “X” flying in the wind. The video ends with the date 9/23/16. The obvious connection would be to a special release surrounding the tenth anniversary of the band’s
album, which was initially released in October of 2006. But could there be more?
There are some who are speculating that an even bigger announcement of a reunion could be in store, as the band split in 2013 while seemingly leaving still at the top of their game. The split occurred and was followed a year later by a greatest hits set titled
. In the time since, the band’s members have pursued other projects, though none has come close to reaching the success achieved by My Chemical Romance.
If it is merely a tenth anniversary release, it will be interesting to see what’s added as
was a rock opera tying a story together through such hit songs as “Welcome to the Black Parade,” “Famous Last Words” and “Teenagers.” The Rob Cavallo-produced disc peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 Album chart and has been certified platinum. So stay tuned to see what’s in store for us on Sept. 23 from My Chemical Romance.
Update: My Chemical Romance have commented on the rumors of a potential reunion taking place and it’s not going to happen. Check out a tweet with a statement on the matter below.
