End of Chapter 46
***Emmett's POV***
"Then the fight on the roof happened, and they had another opportunity." Alice đã đưa ý kiến as she picked up the story where Edward left off. "The took him knowing we would be close behind, Emmett what we just saw was the entire guard rushing our room from either end of the hall. They were được trao direct orders...to kill us all."
"So what did bạn see?" I asked Tallulah as I turned and glared at her. "I mean, you're one of them..what did bạn see that made bạn jump ship?"
"I saw things a bit differently then Alice did, let's just say we don't have long..at all. We need to be going now." She said, getting nervous.
"I think we need to go with her." Alice said.
We all stood and looked at each other, Edward's eyes going from face to face as he listened to our thoughts. I was confused, but I could tell this girl was serious, and if she was lying to us all then we were going to have the fight of our lives.
Chapter 46
***Alice's POV***
I had always felt like I was one of the more..talented of the Cullen family. Well, I had always felt that way until Tallulah entered the room. My family had relied on my ability to see what could be, what may be, to protect them from threats that could come our way..but now, it wasn't me and my visions that they were all relying on, it was someone else's.
"Alice," Edward's voice echoed through my head, and instantly I knew he was listening to my thoughts. "It's not true, we all still need you. you are a member of this family, you are who we rely on 99% of the time."
"You don't need me now, do you." I thought bitterly, wishing I could cry. I had never felt so unwanted bởi my family.
"Alice, we don't have time for all of this. I know you've been searching, and I know bạn keep coming up with nothing but she is telling the truth Alice. Look, one last time, please."
I didn't want to look, I figured that it would be the same as each time I had looked earlier..but I figured he wouldn't stop bothering me until I looked, so I closed my eye and tried to focus on the future, the unknown, the one place that makes me feel centered.
Everything was exactly the same as it was the times before when I looked, until I heard Jasper's voice calling for me. I knew that it wasn't his normal voice, but the one that often called to me when I looked for things, the voice that I trusted thêm then anything, the voice that led me to what had to be.
I started running towards Jasper's voice and didn't realize where I was until I turned and ran down what I thought was an hallway, but it turned out to be an alley way. I stopped a fraction of an inch before I stepped out into the sun, being careful as we always were. I looked around and saw that we were still in Volterra, the large banners waving in the gentle breeze.
I turned slowly as I took in our surroundings, I noticed that I was standing alone in the alley but if I listened I could hear movement just off to my right. I heard Jasper calling my name, his voice louder then it had been before. I spun my heel to see him standing at the intersection between two alleys, his arms held up pointing down each.
"This choice is yours and yours alone to make love, and for that I am sorry." Jasper's voice said, his voice was so sad that I wanted nothing thêm then to go run to him, to hold him and tell him that everything would be alright. "The easy way," He đã đưa ý kiến as he looked to the right. "Will end in heartache and pain, things forever changed for all of us.
"The harder way," He đã đưa ý kiến as he looked to the left. "Will end in loss, but also great joy. Regardless as to which way bạn choose, people close to bạn will be hurt, could be lost, possibly forever..I wish I could change things, but it is your choice."
I walked slowly to Jasper, thinking about what he had said, processing each word. When I got to his side I wrapped my arms around him, holding him as tightly as I could. I turned my head to the right and saw what I'm guessing Tallulah had seen originally, the Volturi rushing our meeting room, and heard the fight and screams that came along with it. I tried squeezing my eyes shut, to forget what I had just seen, but I knew that I had to look the other direction. I looked to the left and saw my family, along with Tallulah running, going from place to place..always fighting, always afraid of what was going to happen, but we were all healthy and together.
I wanted to ask Jasper his opinion, but just as soon as my vision started it was ending. I gasped as I looked around the room, my family's faces all watching me, all wondering what I had seen. I looked around and found Edward, who was leaning against the đi văng for support after seeing what I had seen.
"I guess the choice is clear." He said, his voice raspy.
"It is?" I asked.
"Alice?" Carlisle asked.
"We are at a crossroads, we have only a một phút to make a decision. We either stay here and fight for our lives, which will end badly..or we run. We listen to Tallulah and run, keep running for time."
"There is no choice." Esme đã đưa ý kiến sadly, as she looked around the room at each of her 'children.'
