When you think about it, Jareth offers everything you could want without limits. If you fear him, love him, and do as he says, he promises to be your slave.
Which means, he will put your wants, your needs, your feelings, your welfare, above his own. He will do all within his power, for you. (Which we know from the movie, is a great amount of power...)

Fear him - Have you never cared or respected soneone so much that you feared disappointing them, angering them, or especially losing them?

Love him - what anyone would ask for in a relationship. No more need to be said.

Do as he says - With all his powers, he will know if you go here to this place around these creatures...you will get killed....so, if he tells you to stay away or not do something...then, ergo, there is a reason for it.

And, as your slave - he will want you to be happy(be able to see your family), he will want you to be content(explain the reasoning behind things he tells you not to do), and more than anything, he will want to love you(and the fantasies that brings to mind can't be mentioned here...LOL)
