Cuddy checked her suitcase again, just in case she forgot something.
Tops, jeans, skirts, beauty products, she had it all.
Why the heck did she feel like she was missing something?
She brushed that thought away as she closed her suitcase.
Five phút later she would be out of the house, leaving Rachel alone for thêm than a ngày for the first time.
She did have someone to look after her, though. She was glad she did, but somehow, it all made her extremely uneasy and she
hated that she couldn't -wouldn't- explain why.

"Hey Cuddy!" Wilson waved as he saw Cuddy come down the escalators at the airport.
Wilson took a một giây to take in her appearance. She dressed nicely, as always, but the face she wore ruined her whole oufit.
Wilson couldn't help but notice how absent she appeared. And not only there and then. She'd wore that face every ngày since,
he would say, two months. It didn't look good on her, it made her feel like a part of her was constantly missing, hoặc was somewhere
else.
Wilson knew this trip was going to be hard. Mostly on him. He was supposed to be with two most stubborn being in the universe for a whole week.
Although he was in their presence for quite some time, the following week scared him. He couldn't help himslef but think
it had something to do with unsettled business between the two.
House, had been absent as well. But not in the same way Cuddy was. Wilson had felt his best friend missing ever since he came
back from the Mayfield. He just, wasn't the guy Wilson knew and called best friend.
This House was avoding things he wouldn't normally avoid and deal with the ones he would normally go round in a full swing.
One part of him was the same, though. He still acted the same in front of Cuddy. He still drew her up the walls, even though
he didn't make her reach hundred feet, he would stop at five.

"What do bạn mean we're supposed to dress like '80s?" House whispred in the conference hall.
"You know, dress up, for a party. That's what I've been told" Wilson whispred back
"Seriously? That's gonna be fun!" House made a face.
As Wilson was scribbling something that the woman on stage was talking about, House's eyes roamed the person sitting in front of him.
Cuddy. Sitting so near and yet so far away.
He cought himself wishing she had knew how he felt, but he immedietly regreted it.
He wasn't supposed to think about it. He didn't want her, he didn't need her. And he certainly didn't need to be thinking of her.
And that turned out to be what he was doing most of the time.

"Hey, bạn ready?" Wilson đã đưa ý kiến as Cuddy opened the door to her hotel room. He couldn't quite see her cause she switched off the light in the hallway,
but he trusted her that she would look nothing less than amazing.
"Yeah, let me get my purse" she đã đưa ý kiến quickly, disappearing in the shadows of the hotelroom hallway.
phút later, she was out.
Wilson took a moment to check her out. She looked amazing, her hair was brought half way up and her áo sơ mi was falling down a little, revealing her
bare shoulder.
She really seemed like she popped out of the 80s video.

Back in his hotel room, House found himself Mất tích in the thoughts of a certain dean of medicine for the umpteenth time in that day.
Ever since he came back from Mayfield, he couldn't stop thinking about her.
They're first encounter was somewhat awkward. She had asked him if she was the reason he was quiting, he partially lied bởi telling her she wasn't.
Then he brought out the subject of their.... his hallucination, and everything had turned out to be a joke House had all planned out.
He wished it was planned out. Thank god he had his cooking buddy there, for what he knew, she had saved him.
He looked in the mirror, taking in his reflection. He smirked at his outfit. No one ever đã đưa ý kiến which '80s.

Micheal Jackson's Thriller filled the dancing room, making everyone try ti remember the famous steps.
Wilson poured himself another glass of martini. Hey, he had to drink, sometimes. He would certainly regret it in the morning.
He took Cuddy's cốc-tai, cocktail as well, and went across the room to give it to her.
Like earlier that week, at the airport, she looked absent. Mất tích in her thoughts.
He wondered what went on in that head of hers.
"Brought bạn a drink" Wilson smiled at her as she took the glass from him.
"Thanks" she managed to say, suddenly getting Mất tích in the colorful lights.
"You ok?" he couldn't take her diễn xuất like that anymore "Lisa, if bạn don't want to be here--"
"No, James, I'm fine" she plastered a smile
"Ok" Wilson nodded, figuring he wouldn't want to poke the bear.
Taking a sip from his glass, Wilson saw Cuddy's facial expression change.
It was like her face lit up all of sudden, he was certain she even smiled a little, but he wasn't going to push it.
He turned his head in the direction Cuddy was looking and his eyes met the sight of House.
Dressed like no one in the room.
Dressed like 1780.
Wilson could have figured House was going to do something no one expected. hoặc maybe, something that everyone expected only of him.
That was when a realisation hit him.
Cuddy was smiling. And House was the reason.
____________________________________________
"Wanna dance?" House came to Cuddy, who was Mất tích in checking out the ceileng.
Wilson was dancing with some blonde physician he had met earlier at the conference.
House had trouble going over to Cuddy, but everytime he tried to avoid her, he always found him gazing at her direction.
Almost subconsciously.
House's câu hỏi startled Cuddy. She didn't expect him to be asking her to dance. Hell, she didn't expect him asking her anything, hoặc speaking to her at all.
She smiled at him unwillingly, but somehow found strenght to say "I don't know"
Cuddy didn't know why it was so hard for her to be around him. To think when he was near. Sure, she always acted differently when he was around,
but it was different now, she wasn't holding hope for the two of them, like she was before he went to Mayfield.
At least, she knew she shouldn't be holding hope. It was wrong. Not now... Not when she was...
She somehow found a way to escape that thought.
House gave her a questioning look. Why was he doing this? Why was he asking her to dance? Why was he even thinking about all of this?
He should be getting drunk and not trying to make her dance with him.
"Please" Did he just đã đưa ý kiến that?
No, that wasn't him... but that words did roll on his tongue.
Cuddy felt her hand rise and meet House's. Why was she doing this?
She should be telling him that she couldn't, that it wasn't right, she shouldn't be dancing with him.
But yet, in a matter of a minute, they were spinning around on the wooden floor.
________________________________________
House looked deeply into her eyes.
Was this real? He was dancing to Cuddy, that couldn't be real.
He could just easily be hallucinating again. He hoped he was.
Anything other than hallucination wasn't something he thought he would be able do.
"House?" Cuddy's voice reminded him that in fact, it wasn't a hallucination. That he was really dancing to her, even though he had a hard time believing it.
"Hm?" He muttered, his eyes never leaving hers.
Cuddy shook her head a little, almost like in confusion, hoặc rather like, deciding she didn't want to share anything with him.
In the time they'd been dancing, their bodies found a way to get from somewhat distant, to really close and personal.
House could feel her breath on his lips, just how close she was.
Cuddy still couldn't stop thinking what she was doing was wrong. But she felt so powerless in his presence, in his embrace, his eyes staring at hers.
They spun again, Cuddy's head finding a new trang chủ resting on House's shoulder.
"Cuddy?" House asked uncertainly
"Yeah?" she asked back, her head never leaving his shoulder. What was it that was making her so weak in his presence?
"You know what this reminds me of?" House whispered in her ear, not exactly sure of what he was doing, Cuddy shook her head a little, pulling herself back from him,
meeting his gaze.
God, why did he feel such urge to get even closer to her? He wasn't that guy. He shouldn't be that guy.
But yet, he realized he was telling her "That night we danced in college, the night we kissed"
Cuddy's facial expresion was somewhat scared, somewhat curious why he brought that up.
She was afraid she knew the answer.
"You want to do it all over again" Cuddy đã đưa ý kiến it without thinking, it was pure, dry, instant. Damn him for making her act without thinking.
She wanted to resent him for wanting her never leave his arms so much, but she couldn't.
For the first time since he had left her office, that ngày he realized he'd been hallucinating having sex with her, she felt lost. Like she was missing something, a part of hers.
And swaying with him, right there, made her feel complete again.
House leaned in, their faces just an inch away.
It was becoming thêm dangerous every second. They both hesiteted. They both didn't know what they were doing.
They both felt a pang of sadness hit them when they realized what they had all those years ago, what he ran away from, and what she was about to run away from in a
matter of chẻ, phân chia, split second.
"House, I'm dating Lucas"
__________________________________________
"House, bạn can't just sit there all day" Wilson đã đưa ý kiến warningly as he let himself into his office.
Ever since they had come from Michigan, ever since Cuddy had told House she was dating Lucas, House was diễn xuất like he was dead.
hoặc rather, like he was living, but without his soul present.
House just shook his head at his best friend's comment.
He couldn't think about anything else other than she... had met someone. What was worse, he actually cared and it was affecting him, really, really bad.
That scared him thêm than anything.
He had never thought someone would be able to make him feel Mất tích like that. To make him regret every fiber of his been that let him see that happen.
To hate that he in fact, knew, that it could happen, and didn't do anythign about it other than wait for that fatal moment.
She had met someone.
He had to do something about it.

House spotted a kem truck parked in the park near the hospital.
He instantly knew it was Lucas' and didn't hesitate to get into it, not bothering to knock.
"Hello to bạn too" Lucas đã đưa ý kiến cheerefully, looking through his goggles, sitting bởi the truck window.
"Cut the crap, Lucas" House đã đưa ý kiến stepping nearer to him.
The younger man put his goggles aside and looked up to him.
"I knew you'd be coming" he somewhat smiled at the diagnostician.
"Well, if bạn didn't, you'd be one crapy private investigator" House almost yelled at Lucas.
Seeing the doctor about to lose his temper, Lucas got onto his feet.
"I still don't know why you're here..." Lucas raised a brow "must be something with me dating Cuddy" he smirked.
House looked away. This wasn't how it should have been. He wasn't supposed to care.
But he did. And if he was to do anything about the fact he was miserable about it, it was to step up for himself.
"I tình yêu her..." he spoke, looking at the kem fridge in the corner.
"You're a năm too late" Lucas responded, picking his goggles up.

House was on his balcony, thinking about his ecounter with Lucas. Maybe he was right.
Maybe he was a năm too late.
He hated being powerless. It had to be a way to get Cuddy with him.
The night was cold, much like the night a little thêm than a năm before ... and House couldn't stop thinking about what just happened that night.
He'd gone to her house, they'd kiss, he left.
It was a năm later that he regret doing the latter. If only he knew what would happen a năm after.
He looked at the hospital entrance, not aware of the late giờ it was, wishing for people to come out of the hospital.
Patients, doctors, whoever it was that he could watch and keep himself from thinking about a certain night and what could have been.
A little bit later, his wish was partially granted.
Someone did come out from the hospital. Two people, actually.
But they weren't patients, they weren't doctors.
They were the only ones House didn't want to see that night.
Cuddy and Lucas, leaving together, a smile playing on Lucas' face as they moved to the parking lot.
He was a năm too late.

Ever since House had told him he loved Cuddy, Lucas couldn't bare the fact how much it affected him.
In fact, it didn't surprise him at all. He had learnt thêm than a năm before, House felt something for Cuddy.
However, after two months of dating Cuddy, the thoughts of Cuddy possibly feeling soemthing towards the diagnostician,
made him want to scream.
And he wasn't the guy who screamed.
He was a guy who was terrible at lying, wore crapy socks, and went crazy for women like Lisa.
But he was also a detective, and he knew when other people were lying and he was determined to find out what he wanted and needed to know.
This time, it was Cuddy's feelings for House.
Spying on his girlfriend, wasn't something he was proud of doing, but he had to do it, if not for himself, than for her.
He would hate to be with her if her tim, trái tim was somewhere else.
He was aware of the fact he had taken advantage of her, back when he asked her out for the first time.
She was vulnerable, House being away.
Lucas spent a whole week watching Cuddy at work, attending different confrences, signing checks and ... handling House.
Everything other he could have missed, but the way she was diễn xuất around him, the way they acted around each other, even though House
seemed defeated, Lucas couldn't.

"I'll have white wine, thank you" Cuddy đã đưa ý kiến to the waiter as she handed him the menu.
Lucas studied her face. She was so beautiful, she was everything he wanted for himself, but knew he didn't have.
Cuddy saw Lucas Mất tích in his thoughts, staring at her "What?" she asked with a slight smile.
"You care for him" Lucas đã đưa ý kiến drily, not bothering to fill in the facts.
"What?" Cuddy repeated, only this time starteled.
"House..." Lucas looked at the china on the bàn "You care for him"
Cuddy gulped.
"I care for bạn too, Lucas" she tried to smile, she couldn't.
"But bạn don't tình yêu me"
Lucas waited for Cuddy to answer, all he got was a sigh.
Cuddy coudln't belive what was happening, she didn't have an answer to what Lucas was saying, and frankly, she didn't know
if she wanted to have an answer.
A few phút passed, filled with nothing but silence from Cuddy and Lucas drumming his fingers in anticipation on the table.
As he got no answer from her,
Lucas got up on his feet and left Cuddy staring blankly after him.

House was waken up bởi a loud knock. He looked at his watch, it was something after 4 am.
He didn't bother to get up, figuring the one who was knocking would go away.
After 10 phút of persistent knocks, House got up to his feet, and annoyed, got to the door, flying them open.
As soon as he saw Cuddy on the other side of them, all the annoyance went away.
"Lucas broke up with me" Cuddy đã đưa ý kiến simply.
House opened the door wide letting her in.

I was đọc up on opiate withdrawal and apparently bạn can go through withdrawal not just to stop taking the drug, Vicodin in House’s case, but to reduce the amount you’re taking.
So in House’s case, like Wilson said; his Vicodin levels where way to high and so the only option was to let his body recover and reduce it’s need for that amount it got everyday.
Therefore, the tiếp theo morning when he was seemingly better; it was because of the extreme cold-turkeyness that House used to reduce his levels of Vicodin in order for his hallucination of Amber to go away. So I don’t think it was a hallucination, because he hasn’t quit Vicodin, he has only reduced the amount he takes within the không gian of a horrible 24 giờ detox. His body no longer craves the Vicodin every giờ hoặc so like before.
Short and simple :)
