"What do bạn mean he broke out and left?"
I was already crying, apparently without my own consent. This was the last thing I needed for the night-for my slight nightmare to come true.
"The hospital called me fifteen phút ago. I rounded up Thirteen and Foreman. I couldn't get a hold of Taub however. I didn't think I'd need to call bạn because I figured they called you."
"I was asleep."
"Go figure."
"Hold on."
She went into her room and grabbed a áo khoác and then her robber shoes.
"Let's go."
"You don't want to change?"
"You really think we have time for any questions?"
"I'll drive."
"That's what I thought."
And she closed the door behind her as they walked to his car.
"I think it's better if we both take different cars. We'll have a better chance of finding him."
So Cuddy wished Wilson good luck as she got into her car, but they both needed it, if they were going to try to find a crazy narcissistic pain in the đít, mông, ass in the middle of the night.
___
I drove nearly everywhere I could think of from Mayfield to Princeton. But it was useless.
I looked up to the sky as I went down a quiet road. The night was a pitch black and the moon and stars both caressed it. They both illuminated the sky, diễn xuất as a guiding light throughout the darkness.
That's when it hit me. The one place he would run away to would not be his home, his work, hoặc any other place we know of now. He would run away to the best times of his life. His youth. His good memories.
::
Within minutes, I pulled up to a side of the empty road. I parked my car on the cỏ and slowly walked through the woods.
It was dark, but I knew where I was going. He'd taken me here before.
After several steps into the thick forest, I found a light, shining between two trees.
The moons stream of rays led me right to where I knew I would find him.
I knew I was here.
I walked onto the empty lacrosse field looking around. The stadium lights were all off, appearing dead.
The cỏ was an ngọc lục bảo green. It looked rich with color and the blades were fresh. My feet had crunched over all of them the same way before.
When I turned my head to the bleachers, not only did I see shadows cast along each individual bleacher, but I saw the silhouette from my dream.
House had been watching Cuddy walk along the field from the very hàng đầu, đầu trang of the bleachers. He was still in his hospital áo choàng with the accompaniment
of his cane. He twirled it around as she walked up each step going toward him.
"You're probably the last person I would expect to look here. On the other hand, I had the feeling bạn would find me first."
"Don't I always."
She took a ghế, chỗ ngồi tiếp theo to him as they looked out onto the field.
"Don't do this."
"It's already been done."
"Go back. Yeah, I can imagine how you're feeling but--you have to give this a chance. If it's going to help you, bạn certainly should."
"It's giving me meanings I refuse to accept."
"It's được trao bạn the truth bạn refuse to accept. This isn't just the vicodin we're dealing with. It's letting bạn realize that there's something deeper going on here. And your scared because of that. You're realizing that--"
His face turned to her and then faced out quickly, looking at the moon. She bit her lips and heaved a great sigh.
"It's been, what, five days? Within these five days and nights, with every một giây I'm spending there instead of here--I've accepted the truth--partially--"
Her nightmare was coming true, but in a way that made it a dream.
"You don't have to say anything. We both can infer how that sentence would've gone."
"I don't think I could finish it if I tried."
"Knowing you, yes."
She gave a smirk. A quick one.
"You have to go back." she spoke again.
"Even for a little while. Days--it seems like forever but. Look, none of this would have happened if I hadn't left that night. And I'm sorry for that. But, bạn have to stay there, where they can take care of you."
Her voice was fairly sincere. And that's when he held her hand. And that's when she saw his arm.
Her face turned slightly alarmed and angry. thêm worried and scared right after.
"You've been doing heroin?"
He turned his head away from her as she lifted up the rest of his sleeve. At least five injection marks.
"Are bạn crazy? When did bạn do these?"
"Past few days. They don't run a tight shift over there at Mayfield."
"Clearly. Come on."
She held on tighter to his hand, either out of fear and worry hoặc her dominating side kicking on, and began to pull him over to the stairs of the bleachers. He had stopped at the steps. She continued walking down, finally stopping once their arms had stretched over two steps. She turned to look at him.
"What?"
"I think I want to finish that sentence."
He stepped down slowly on the steps and pulled her hand closer and--nearly kissed her.
"Thank God bạn found him!"
Wilson had called out from the middle of the field. He was walking towards the bleachers as House and Cuddy walked hand in hand back down. House was whispering behind her.
"Thank God? He's the one who made me crazy in the first place."
They finally made it down and began walking back to their cars.
"How did bạn find him?"
"I'm guessing, a gut feeling, a hunch, maternal instincts, whatever bạn want to call it," House retorted.
Cuddy had kept herself quiet the whole time. First, she refused to tell Wilson about what almost happened up there, second, she refused to tell Wilson about House's arm. They parted their ways once they reached the road once again. Wilson got into his car as they đã đưa ý kiến their goodbyes.
"Don't do this--again." Cuddy slightly ordered to him.
"If I do I'll pick a better hiding spot."
She gave a weak grin and he finally let go of her hand and got in the car. Wilson revved up the engine and they took off, making their way back to Mayfield.
