Why would anyone be offended? People are free to ship whoever they want. Hell I'm sure there's a Draco/Harry club out there and I don't see anyone get their panties in a twist about that.

And "they didn't even do anything" - doesn't kissing count as something? Ginny stated in Halfblood Prince that Hermione and Viktor had kissed (presumably Hermione had confided this in her before).
