'Glee' Season 6 Actor Finneas O’Connell Talks Spencer And Alistair's Romance [SPOILERS!!]

"Glee" season 6 has introduced a new gay couple during its sixth and final season, Spencer (Marshall Williams) and Alistair (Finneas O\'Connell).

In recent interview with TV Line, O\'Connell dished on how he landed the role and his onscreen romance with Williams.

According to Williams, he auditioned for "Glee" five times for five different characters but didn\'t get a part.

"I definitely auditioned for one of the new kids at the beginning of this season and also one of the new kids at the beginning of season 4. I think a lot of actors do that with this show," he explained.

O\'Connell\'s also talked about the Spencer and Alistair\'s "very understated gay relationship" and revealed that it\'s his most "favorite thing" about the onscreen romance.

"My favorite thing about it is that it\'s written as a very understated gay relationship. \'Glee\'s\' been such a flagship for televising homosexuality and I love how it\'s changed over the course of six years," he said.

The actor went on to narrate several instances where "Glee" focused on its gay characters, like Kurt coming out to his dad in season one and his relationship with Blaine that resulted in their recent marriage.

"But by the sixth season, there\'s this character Spencer who\'s character-driven and just happens to be gay. The fact that he\'s gay isn\'t made into a big deal, so he and Alistair are kind of just having a normal high school romance. They just like each other, it doesn\'t center around the fact that they are gay," he dished.

Meanwhile, "Glee" will air its final episode on Mar. 20 entitled "2009," Glee Forum noted.

The series\' two-week finale will feature a flashback of the time the original glee club members first met. A promotional photo from "Glee\'s" finale episode featured Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Rachel (Lea Michele) shaking hands and meeting each other for the first time.

The second part of the finale entitled "Dreams Come True" will present the future lives of the cast members, Carter Matt reported.
