Would anyone explain the whole Matt Smith era storyline please?

Me and my family are really confused. I think I understand bits of it but I'm not sure if they are right anymore. Also, is this long storyline over yet hoặc is there thêm to look out for. It would REALLY help if anyone could explain. Thanks
