In the sequel, it's like they threw all of Max's character development from the original out the window. He's actually happy about leaving his dad and is downright horrible to his dad. I mean, I know that no parent and child relationship is ever going to be perfect but Max acts like he learned NOTHING. Also, I MISS ROXANNE! I know they're high schoolers and you normally don't end up with your high school sweetheart, but this is DISNEY, has anthropomorphic animals, and is a movie about GOOFY! I don't think being realistic needs to apply here. Anyway, the sequel is good but NOWHERE near as amazing as the original, which is in my top 15 favorite Disney movies.
