I like both, but the animated ones are classics and will be remembered more than the live action versions over time.

I can see the point in some of the live action remakes (not all of them though - in some they are going as far as copying the cinematography from the original - what is even up with that!?) but so far I have never liked any of the live action versions as much as the cartoon versions. My two favourite live action remakes are 101 Dalmatians and Beauty and the Beast, but I do still think their cartoon counterparts are more entertaining and have more charm to them.

Out of the ones coming out this year, the Dumbo remake looks fairly original compared to the cartoon version. I am admittedly a little creeped out at the visual design of Dumbo himself (looks like they couldn't make up their mind on whether to make him realistic or cartoony so they mashed up the two - yikes!) but the movie's atmosphere (and, thankfully, the cinematography too) seems completely different to the cartoon one that was released decades ago.

What I dislike is when filmmakers basically just try to recreate a movie that already exists with nothing new added to it; I can't bring myself to go and watch those ones. The really hypocritical part is that media industry veterans claim that newcomers to the industry need to be "original" and "unique" with their ideas, all the while these veterans are just remaking stuff that already exists. Those people need to start taking their own advice. XD

Both, but animated movies from Disney are slightly better.

None of the live action remakes have looked that appealing.
