Belle isn't really one or the other. I suppose Aurora- when she's happy, she's quite optimistic, but when things start to look bad, she's pretty depressed.

Aurora get's depressed way too easily and doesn't stand up for herself. She gave up way too easy when the Fairies told her that she won't be able to see Philip again. Belle is optimistic she was able to find happiness with the Beast and even grew to love him. She made a negative situation into a positive one.
